Ape Hangers
« on: December 01, 2008, 08:24:21 PM »

Anyone ever attempted to install a set of apes on a 1300R.

I have two projects left on my want to do list and I think I am pretty sure I want to go this route. If you have, please let me know trouble you had. I am going to go with 14 inch apes. I know this will vary on the rider and personal taste.

What I am looking for is any generic insight on installation.

Thanks,

Reed

There is a guy on the Minnesota board of VTXOA that has them on his bike, take a look around there.  O0

You'll have to get longer cables and lines, and you'll need to splice in extensions for the wiring. If you haven't ridden with bars that tall before, you might want to log a few hours on a bike with them before you pull the trigger.

The most expensive part is the cables. Just make sure you measure correctly b/c they may have to be custom made for the bars you're putting on. You'll have to extend the wires also but none of this is to difficult, just time consuming.  It's about a half days project once you get all the supplies.
