I just saw this. I see I missed the preregistration date. Will try to be there Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. I live down the road on the NW side of Sunny San Antone, near 16 & 1604.

Okay folks I have something to say about the motorcycle shop in Bandera Texas. I was riding in to town about 8 pm north on 173 when my rear tire started getting Squirrley on me. I pulled over just before the river to realize my rear tire was going flat. I nursed it up main street to see C&D PowerSports on the main drag. They closed at 6 PM. I called USAA roadside assistance. To get my bike back to Northwest San Antonio would have cost me $173. Much to my surprise Chris De Langhe who has the front end of the shop and Chris Glasgow (Hill Country Cyle & ATV Service) who is the mechanic pulled up with their wives I'm assuming after dinner around 8:30 PM. They were so gracious to let me park my bike in their yard overnight. I had to get a tube as they did not have any at the time. I bought one this morning at Alamo Cycle in San Antonio. I drove back out there today and Chris D told me about Continental milestone tires. Apparently on the center part of the tread it's a harder surface the outer surfaces are softer with a better grip for cornering. He can get me into a new set of tires with labor for just under $500. I personally like the design of the tread because it looks to break rainwater very well too. So most likely I am going with this. I am just humbled at the fact this was 2 1/2 hours after closing time and they readily jumped out of their vehicles to help me out. Granted I had to get a ride back to Sunny San Antone. Thank God I have a good relationship with my ex-wife and her boyfriend who rides Harley's, drove out to pick me up, gave me a ride home last night. While we're there enjoying ourselves tap that horn when we ride by, these are good folks I know Chris and his wife are retired military up front, I'm not sure about Chris in back. I am truly humbled at thier graciousness.

What I need clarification on: my 2003 VTX 1800 S (Sadie, The Silver Dollar)because it has spokes he said this bike requires a tube in the tires versus tubeless like a mag wheel rim wouldn't have. I did not realize this till now, however it does make sense to me. I have never seen this come up in discussion on VTX forms about VTX S models. So I will most likely have a liner put on the tube underneath the spokes as well laws on the outer portion of the tube too, thoughts comments?

Dealt with these guys before last year when Snake had a flat on the front of his bike. Nice folk, and willing to help out. Yes on spoke rims with a tube you need an inner liner, just the way of the beast, kinda like your bicycle when you were growing up. I don't know what kinda tires their selling ya but $500 sounds a little steep, I guess with new tubes and new liners maybe in line. Just my $.02

Set of Metzler 880's from Direct Line parts is $379. Don't know what conti"s with tubes and liners would cost. On the bike installation with balance runs $70 on the low end to $95 on the higher end (although Honda Conroe wanted $75 just for the rear on my Wing and it's easier by far than a X bike! :ohwow: No , Ididn't do it.) With tax and disposal of old tires doesn't sound out of line.  :ohwow:

Gents,
That includes front and rear tires, tubes, mounting and balancing. Wonder, for now if I ought to carry an extra set tubes with me from now on..... I will probably go overboard on liners, to include exterior of tubes if it's feasable. $75.00 in labor per tire. I'll know more after I talk to Chris tomorrow. Makes me want to switch to mags for tubeless tires....... Suggestions?

I did read Chris G's business card tonight. He's a Vet too!

I usually buy my tires online and just take the wheels to the shop for mount and balance. Last time was $20 per wheel M&B.

I might have a third, still waiting for a commitment at this time.  We have an extra bed so would be nice to split rent three ways instead of 2.  More money for beer.
