The route I intended, but have no real problem adjusting, has us leaving the island on 146, and proceeding all the way to Dayton on 146.  From there, we'll take 321 up to Cleveland (after merging with 105).  From there, FM 1725, to 150 @ New Waverly.  Then, 1375 to FM 149.  Next, Hwy. 90, and then FM 244 to Carlos for Lunch.

On the return trip, we will reverse the route back to the 149/1375 split, but we will proceed on 149 to Montgomery (through the Nat'l Forest).  From Montgomery, we'll take Hwy. 105 through Conroe, to 1485 and then 2100.  Follow 2100 all the way down (cross the channel using Lynchburg Ferry), which will land us at the foot of San Jacinto Monument / Battleship Texas.  From there, we will run to Hwy. 225, then east to 146 headed back to the island.

How does that sound Boogie?  Keeps us off the interstates all together and makes the scenery worh seeing for those who don't live in our neck of the woods.

If you stick to this plan, I will meet y'all in Carlos for lunch and ride back with ya.

Jerry, as far as I know, this is the plan.  Have not heard any objections as to Yankee's for lunch, at least.  Stay tuned... ;)

OK, guys... Just got home from the weekend in Austin.  Not a bad 3 weekends:  'Horns vs. Nebraska; Lone Star Rally; 'Horns vs. t tech.

OK for the details:

Meet at the following location and time:

Exxon "On the Run" station / conv. store
4429 Broadway
Galveston, Texas
Meet @ 9 am, KSU @ 9:30

This station is located on the corner of Broadway (45) and 44th Street.  From Seawall, turn onto 45th Street and proceed until you reach Broadway.  Turn right, and the station is on your right.  Large enough to accomodate a crowd and everyone can get fueled (bikes and selves).

What time do I need to plan to meet you for lunch at Yankee's?

NOTICE:::   TIME CHANGE

To allow for pit stop in Kemah and 1 rest stop, we will meet at the Exxon @8:30, with KSU 9 am.

Jerry, this should put us in Carlos by 12:45, possibly a few minutes earlier depending on the pace we can maintain.  If it were just RD, SmoothX, & I, you could expect us there by 11:30! ;D

When you go through Kemeh be sure to look up to the left(a little NW of Kemah) as they are having the Ballunar Festival but avoid Nasa rd as it will be packed.

Duane, I'll be in the area scouting for DS roads.  I'll keep checking in on Yankee's from time to time to catch you guys.  In any event if we don't connect at Yankee's, I'll see y'all or at least some of y'all Saturday night.

I plotted a course with MS Streets & Trips straight up 45 to 6 & up:  142 miles and 2hrs and 40 minutes.  If you deviate from this route to a more fun route as has been suggested and encounter traffic it will be a push to make in 3 or 3 1/2 hours.

Please be careful.

You might consider a deviation: Rather than taking 149 all the way into Montgomery, take FM 1097 east off of 149. It will deadend into 75; turn right (south) and go to Loop 336 on the north side of Conroe. Take a left on 336 and follow it to SH105; take a left on 105 and a right at the first light (FM1485). That's the best part of 1485. After you cross FM2090 (at the light and Caney Creek High School) the next light is the intersection of Old Houston Rd./ FM 3083/ FM 1485. Turn left at the light to stay on 1485, and follow it out until it turns into FM2100. After you go under 59, 1485 will deadend into Loop 494 (old 59). Take a right and the first left (at the light), and you will be back on 1485. That will be a nicer ride with less traffic.
