Bikes on the Bayou Motorcycle Rally - April 27-29 2018
« on: February 08, 2018, 07:54:47 AM »

Anybody going to this?

https://www.facebook.com/bikesonthebayou/

The only place I can find any info is on Facebook but it's being promoted by Outlaw Dave apparently.  I may ride down Saturday and check it out with a maybe on the hotel thing.

I think I'll be going.  But they better promote it a little more or they will have a low turnout.

maybe if I don't have anything better to do but I'm passed the whole rally thing unless they do something different. Wish they would put on a motorcycle rodeo or motogymkhana. That would get my attention.

I keep seeing...."Motorcycle, scooter & Bicycle Festival".  Boy Houston just can't get away from using "festival" for every damn thing they do down there.  I think we are still going though

Looks like they have motorcycle parking on Allen Parkway right in the middle of the festival.  I wonder if that is extra like at the Lone Star Rally.

Let us know how it goes.  It doesn't look like the kind of rally (festival) that I would book a hotel for.  I may try and get out there Sunday for a bit but don't want to pay $20.  I wonder if they will be selling day passes for $10.

You've paid for VIP at LSR and god knows what they charge now for ROT rally.  $20.00 doesn't even make a dent in your pocket especially for 3 days.  Saliva is performing Saturday night and they were a pretty good band about a decade ago.  I just read that parking on Allen parkway is designated parking for motorcycle while there are parking lots around for cagers.  I think you get a wrist band and that gives you in/out privilege the whole rally.

You need to support Screwston Rocket.  a portion of the proceeds will go to rebuilding and the beautification of  Buffalo Bayou.   :banghead:

I have plans already Friday and Saturday.  I'll see how it's going for you and determine if I want to waste my time going.

Just confirmed that the wrist band gets you parking for motorcycles only on the section of Allen Parkway that is closed off.  Looking forward to doing that amongst other things we'll be attending that day too

It has potential for sure but it was okay.  If they can keep this going for another 4-5 years it could be a really great rally in terms of attendance and concert venues.  Will I go back in the few years? No.  But if it grows I'll go back.

Thing I thought was weird was the pat downs (yes a pat down) and they would open your saddlebags or purses looking for weapons every time you wanted to come in.

I don't think it was as successful as they hoped even though they say otherwise.
