A few of my buddies and I are going to go down to Kerrville, staying at Kerrville State Park on Columbus day weekend (Oct 7) to ride around the hill country. All are welcome to join us.

All of us are at least staying through Sunday. Some have to go back Sunday, some are going to stay through till Monday. I have to go back Sunday afternoon. I plan on driving down on Friday evening. WE are planning on doing some riding in the area on Saturday, probably over to the three sisters. If you think you might come over, then PM me your cell and I'll shoot mine back to ya and maybe we can hook up for a cold beverage or soemthing.

We went to Kerville this past weekend to enjoy some of the excellent
roads in the area. We decided to ride over and hit the three sisters
around Leakey. We took Hwy 39 out of Kerrville and just west of Hunt
we met a rider coming towards us motioning for us to slow down. We
weren't going that fast, but I slowed down expecting an officer to
be running radar around the next bend. Nothing could have prepared
me for what we came upon. A rider and his passenger on their '05 Victory Kingpin
had gone into a corner too hot and left the road. They were thrown
into dry creekbed full of boulders. The driver was killed instantly
and other riders in his group had put a jacket over his body and a
cap over his brains (no, they weren't in the same place). They were
tending to the woman as best they could as an ambulance was quite
far away. I still can't get the gruesome sight out of my mind. We
took care of traffic control as it was in a curvy section and then
went on after the ambulance and police arrived to take over.
The woman was careflighted to San Antonio in critical condition,
she has since been upgraded to guarded and then stable condition.
The driver, Gary Smith is from Azle, and the woman, Carolyn Farmer, is from Ft. Worth.

It's Wednesday and every time I close my eyes, I still see his mangled body.

All I want to say is that I NEVER want to have
to see this happen to any of you. Please, be careful and take
whatever precautions you can to protect yourself.

I talked to Ms. Farmer's son today and she has improved enough to move to the stepdown ICU. Besides the head trauma, she broke her ankle, shoulder and back. The son didn't indicate any paralysis and I didn't think to ask. Currently they're trying to get her to a rehab unit in the Ft. Worth are since that is where she is from. continued prayers are welcome.
