The airliner took off smoothly and climbed to altitude; the "FASTEN SEAT BELTS" light was extinguished and the captain came on the intercom.
"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for flying with us. We have reached our cruising altitude of 38,000 feet and are expecting clear weather for the flight. Our cruising speed will be.....OH MY GOD!!!!!"
This was followed by a long silence, during which the passengers were looking at each other, praying, or raising their seats and fastening their seat belts. The captain then came back on the intercom and announced, "Sorry for the confusion, folks. The flight attendant just spilled a cup of hot coffee in my lap. You should see the front of my pants......"
From the rear of the First Class section a voice called out, "You should see the back of mine!"
