Need help trouble shooting 1300r
« on: April 25, 2015, 09:02:06 PM »

I finally got my vtx. Picked up a stock '06 1300r with 7000 miles for a great price. started and ran fine for the first couple of weeks with the usual cold start issue I've read about on the boards.
Took my daughter for a short 30min ride and it started cutting out in second gear a few blocks from the house on the way home. I dropped to first and had to really work the clutch and barely roll on throttle to keep it running. adding choke made it worse. Stopped at a neighbor's house and let it set for about 20 min, started back up without issue and made it about about 4 blocks before it did it again.
Bike is still stock and I ran a can of sea foam through the first two tanks. Any ideas?  ???

Two things to check.
1. Vacuum lines, make sure there all connected, if they are check for cracks in the lines.
2. Under your seat you will see a black box with two rows of wires, check to make sure none on the wires have broken. I has a similar problem way back and it was a black wire to the far left on bottom row, you will have to pull the box to make sure all wires are in tack.

I replied this once, but for some reason I didn't see it, so here it is again, hope it helps.

If you still have a problem let us know, and we will try something else.

Sounds like a fuel filter issue.

The 1800 had a ground issue.  You might be having one as well.  Check out this site for reference.
