ordered a battery and ????
« on: January 16, 2009, 11:13:01 PM »

Thank you for your recent order.  We are sorry to inform you that we can no longer ship batteries due to HAZMAT issues with UPS.  Please let us know what you would like for us to do with the remaining items on your order.  Thank you and have a nice day.

They sell batteries at Walmart! ::) Just get the best one! It will be better that the one you have know! I also start my bikes up once a week (not Kandies) and let run for about 15 minutes, and still have never needed a battery tender! ::)

I bought a battery from Wal-Mart 2 months ago and I'm assuming it was delivered by UPS. I thought my battery (original) was dieing. I cranked it the other night after a week of sitting (outside) and it fired right up. Must be my switch going out instead. I need to install the new one anyway before it goes bad just sitting. I'm sure a little more juice couldn't hurt.

Bill, I don't think it'll "go bad just sitting". I have a new one that's fully charged as a "just in case I need it" insurance policy....nothing quite like a dead one when you want to get up and go.

pOGO,  I had a similar situation with my VTX 1800R.  After a little chasing, I found the problem to be in the starter push button on the right grip.  The switch was not designed for disassembly, but, you CAN remove the top of the box to find slide contacts and some very small tabs that ride over the printed circuit, making and breaking the start and run circuits.

The two 'floating' contacts had been mostly encased in the plastic block that carries them.   As they were not making good contact, they burned and the bike became intermittent at starting.  BTW, Honda can't order the switch or any part of it.....they have to order the entire starter, cutoff switch housing with the associated harness.

The starter switch is a defect that honda will not admit to and is always a problem. They make you buy the $60. switchbox, so they don't fix it. I've got a tractor starter switch for mine.... I do have a brand new switch box for it, just never have bothered.

I'd rather have the new bike. I'm not old enough to work at Walmart.  :bikerider:

O'Reillys has a battery for the 1800 for around $85.00 plus tax. It is a ETX20L. They will more then
likely have it on the shelf at most stores. I put 1 in my 04 1800N and haven't had a problem.
