OFFICIAL STATEWIDE TEXAS X RIDERS MEET AND GREET
Because I live in Snyder, for anyone with questions about the town, or the rally, feel free to email me or message on here. I will hopefully be able to rope off a nice area in the tent section for the VTXOA and Texas X riders again this year.

Probably are great times to be had, but...reminder to self...NEVER, EVER, EVER again be tempted to click on ANY Myspace ad dealio regardless of who posts it, or what it's about ANYTIME, ANYWHERE!!!!! Dayum, trying to get out of those P.O.S. things is RIDICULOUS and a heck of a lot more trouble than it's worth! Again, not knocking the event, but the link sucks, big time. JMHO.

Hey pogo, I understand what your saying about the My space links, but the main link to the Bike Rally info is not on a My Space from what I understand. All the main info can be found on that main link page, without ever going to a "My Space" page.
If your needing some information though, just fire away on here. Are you intersted in going? They had over 6500 registered bikes last year, and a LOT going on right there at the collesium grounds. Should be another great time this year!

huh? I might need a decoder ring on that one... there is a link to their myspace page on their website. you can go there, click on their picture, and look at pics from last year. to get out of it you click the little red x in the upper right corner (closes the window). what's the fuss about?

We had plenty of beer in the camp area! 8) 8) 8) I think there was a faucet near by, but they have water for trailers, and hot showers on site... is that what you're looking for?

HELL YEAH!! We had a great time last year. Me and lisa will try and hang around and get in the group photo this year...LOL>
IF I remember correctly, we had 6 or 7 VTX's lined up at one point during the weekend. IM THINKING we need MORE!! Jump on those Honda's and ride out to Snyder and join us this year.
There's always a lot going on right on the collesium grounds. The poker run over to Rolling Thunder is a nice ride too. Maybe I wont have such a headache this year when we take off for the ride....hehe . Yeah..i can dream cant I?? O0

I just added Snyder Texas to the list of possibilties for a Statewide Meet and Greet location for 2008. Seems to me that combining the White Buffalo Bikefest Rally WITH a meet and greet would make for a good combination.

Murray...we just picked up a bike for the wife..so now we have 2 honda's in the stable..LOL> shes going to be riding a honda spirit 750 soon!! Needs some clean up, tires, spockets, chain, and a battery!

I'm in for the M&G. headin' out 6 am saturday, should be there in time for lunch. i'll see if i can't round up a few more cen-tex riders to keep me company for the ride. i'll probably just get a hotel room, any recomendations? BTW, if the windfarm tour is still a go, what day and time is it. would sure like to be in on that. down here in leander i see the blades being trucked that direction all the time. makes you wonder how the heck those things stay together. see ya soon and ride safe.

Excellent!! Round up as many as ya can and bring them up this way. We were down there for the ROT rally this year and had an AWESOME time!!! It took us about 5.5 or 6 hours to get there if I remember correctly. If you have others coming, let me know and I'll add them to the list also.
Murray...lets work on a Saturday after lunch tour of the windfarm if thats possible. That way...if they do the poker run in the morning again, we can finish that up in the morning, get a good lunch and then take the wind farm tour. Let us know what you can throw together on that!! See yall there!
As far as hotels go, the Purple Sage is a nice but small hotel. They changed managment recently, so not sure if the prices went up or what. There's also a Best Western and I'll get the numbers for each and post them on here. Look for them on front of this post where I'm adding the names! I'll also ask around and see if the other hotels are going to be done in time for the rally.

I'm almost certain the wind farm tour can be done at whatever time is convenient for us. The guy out there owes me a favor... Sat. after lunch does sound like the best time, but we'll make sure and work it out when we get there... They recently put in some big boy 3MW turbines down the road there, and I haven't gotten to see one that big yet, looking forward to it.
As for the hotels, I'd like to mention that the Best Western is basically on-site so that you can party and then walk back to the hotel... I'll try to control myself better than I did at BBT :o

Good point Murray!! Best Western is probably your best bet. They do run out of vacancies, so book early!

I've been catching up on my landscaping duties ( My boy and I cut lawn to make extra cash) over the last few days, and havent had time to look up all the numbers. I jumped onto the Texas X site tonight to get those numbers updated, only to find that you had it covered!! O0

well, bad news. i called every hotel on the list and no vacancies at any of them. looks like the next closest town is sweetwater. i'll give them a shot tomorrow.

We got back from Ruidoso last night and had a great trip. About 1400 miles in 5 days (all mountain riding) and had an awesome time even though we got wet just about every day! Glad to hear you going to make it tom cat. I got ya added to the list.

If i remember correctly, there were small enclosed trailers in the zoo area. Murray, do you remember that also? If its not a large toy hauler, I think they were letting smaller enclosed trailers, about 16 feet and under park in there.

And yes from what I remember we had some trailers over there... When we get the pic of the area that we'll be camping at posted up, make sure and print it to take with you, show it to them when you come in and tell them where you will be camping...

Im hoping to get the same place Murray because there that spot has one of the few shade trees in the whole camp area. I took vacation next wed and thursday...so my plan is to go down there and set our tent up there and mark off that area again. Hopefully we can get it...but if not, I'll try to get something adjacent to it.

Yeah, with a week to go, its going to be hard to find any vacancies at the hotels. They are expecting 8000 this year, and the great thing about this rally is everything that is packed into the collosiem grounds. There is a lot to see in a small area, plus a concert.

Meals at rally---Any grills available? Concessions? Restaurants close by?

Lots of burgers and stuff on a stick at the grounds. Don't know much about the local restaurants, but it is a college town. I will be looking for my good friends from the Miller Light cook off team, Free Beer, Free Food, and way too much of both, that's why I don't know much about local restaurants. I was camped next to them last year. I will also be looking for those lovely ladies of the Sisterhood of 69.
I will be on the bike with a tent this time, so I will camp in the X area. Last year I had the trailer and my son with me. When that rally was done, we were having such a good time we went on down to the coast and had a few more days of party time.

I can bring my grill down there for the weekend..thats no problem, if people think it will be beneficial.
There is a lot of food vendors right there at the collosiem, and good places to eat off the grounds too. I'll be working one of the gates from Noon to 4 on Friday I think..if I see a VTX, I'll be asking if your one of "us"...LOL!
To find the list of resturants, just go to the Yahoo home page, then select yellow pages, then select Snyder as your location (zipcode is 79549), and then click the food tab and you can see whats available for restuarants, etc.

Just dropped the bike off this evening for service and new rubber on the front... should be ready tomorrow or at the latest thursday, I got a meeting from 10 til noon friday, then I throw on some leather and hit the road asap!

Sounds good murray. I'll be attempting to set up a tent today (wed) if they will let me) in our spot from last year! I believe you can camp Thursday as well... I just got off the phone with Bob, and there are some people setting up camp tonight, so I assume camping from now through the weekend is permitted...
Bob got the same corner for us as last year, The place with the most (only) shade!!! Good Stuff!!!

Officallly, they start letting people set up on thrursday, but I know the a few of the people on the commitee, so they havent made a fuss about me setting up on Wed. For those who didnt want to have to pack a tent, but would like to come.....we will have 2 (maybe 3) extra tents available if someone wishes to use them. They will be down at the grounds, so if ya want to use them, all ya gotta do is set it up when ya get here, and then we ask that you take it back down before you leave on sunday. If your interested in one of them.....reserve them within this post. By doing that, we wont have too many people and not enough tents....LOL!!
I'll be working the gate on friday until 4 pm, and after that, Myself and Murray will run by my house and get the grill which will be available for people to use over the weekend. Everyone thats coming is welcome to use it if we are not around....so you can run by the local shopping center (United) and pick up steaks, burgers etc for ease of cooking. I'm going to bring about 8 pounds of deer meat patties, hamburger buns, lettece, cheese, etc for Friday Nights meet and greet, so first come first serve....LOL. When they are gone they're gone>>BUT the grill will still be around all weekend to use for whatever.
Speaking of gates, here is a quick description of what to do when you get into town. To find our camp area, you can enter GATE 2 which is on 37th Street. After entering the gate, look to your right and our camp area is ALL THE WAY at the end of that fence line back in the corner.
They are setting up something new this year. They have a HUGE outdoor stage and lighting set up which im guessing might be for the Friday night concert. Should be cool!! Its about 100 yards out in front of our camp area in the middle of the ZOO camp area.
Now.....for those definitly coming, try and convince a few more to join ya! We (Myself and Murray) would like to see this event grow each year for the Texas X riders and VTXOA. It will be worth the trip, and wont have to listen to those that DID come tell ya how much fun they had (and that you SHOULD have come....LOL)!! O0

OK....one tent is reserved for Saturday..consider it done O0.
Its a small 4 or 5 man dome tent, and easy to set up.
One left, and I think its a bit larger....more of a cabin tent, so it can hold a few people.

Here's something else for everyone to consider:
If you have stuff for your VTX that you have been wanting to sell or trade, bring it with ya. It might be a good place to do that, and then you can save by not paying shipping, etc.
Just something to consider.

Michael...sure wish that I could make the ride to the West. But the season is in full swing and will work thru the weekend. You guys watch out for each other and have a blast. If you really do it right you may even see a white buffalo. Have fun!! O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0 O0

DAR DAVE...if your coming on thursday...you should be able to get the same spot as last year. I put my tent in a different location, along with a 10x10 canopy which will provide more shade. Give me a hollar when ya get here. I'll be around because I took vacation today through the weekend. I got our area reserved today, and tomorrow I'm hoping to wash my bike and get the 1300 miles of road grime and bugs off my bike from the Ruidoso trip. It may take me a few washing sessions over the next few weeks to get all the crap off, so it may NOT be detailed and clean for this one.
OH hey...not sure if anybody has heard or not, but they are hoping to have the DYNO drags set up this year too. That way, you can get your bike on a Dyno, AND race somebody without ever getting a ticket....LOL> I think it will be 30 bucks to run it. Last I heard, it was coming for this year!! I'll find more info out tomorrow or friday for sure. If your not familar with the set up, you pull your bikes up side by side onto this trailer. They strap both bikes in, and watch the "tree" just like a drag strip. The bikes are stationary, but you run through the gears and race each other. At the same time, the bike is somehow being measured by the Dyno machine for horsepower and torque (Im assuming). I havent seen it in action yet.

Someone asked a question that might need clarification for others as well, so I wanted to post it over here. Normally meet and greets are held at a restuarant, or gathering place on a certain evening I guess, but this one is a little different. Because there is so much going on right here at the grounds, I didnt want to commit anybodies entire evening to just one thing by having to meet at a restuarnt from 5-9 etc. With people coming in from all over, at different times, I wanted to be able to keep things flexible, so you can plan "on the fly" so to speak. By doing it this way, you dont have to worry about being at a certain place at a certain time.
The "Meet and Greet Dinner" going to be Friday from 4 until the Evening Parade starts, and then AFTER that again until whenever in the early AM.
I will be bringing Venison Burgers and all the stuff for that, and my grill will be down there for anyone wanting something else (steak, chicken etc). We will also grab plenty of paper plates and silverware too.
IF YOU DONT MAKE THE MEET AND GREET ON FRIDAY NIGHT, then stop by our (THE VTXOA/TEXAS X ) camp area ANYTIME over the weekend and say hi. Our camp is open to everyone from this website and the VTXOA. So, technically the meet and greet runs all weekend. Hope that provides some clarification.Lastly, my cell number is: Three Two Five Two Zero Seven One Four Seven Three

Going south with the sun rise. Should be at the zoo around noon. Time of arrival can vary greatly with route witch way the wind blows and who I meet on the road. I will get there, as it stands alone.
There will be a git fiddle at our camp. I am not bringing one, so if one is not there, we will go get one. Lots of music at the rally but I am thinking ahead. We will argue, or not, when I get there about the git fiddle. We are going to have fun. I sure did last year, and I hope to top that, this year.

Burgers are prepped, Ive got our tents over there, the 10 x 10 canopy is set up, the grill is there, and cold beer is waiting on me now! Dar Dave and KEBS rolled in tonight, and are set up. Probably sleeping already...yeah...its 3 20 AM and IM still up..LOL> I'm headed to bed though.
I found out that I'll be working GATE 2 from noon to 4, so come on out. It just so happens that Gate 2 is the entry gate you want for registration anyways. Gate 5 was set up tonight for RV's and Vendors to enter, and my guess is that it will be that way tomorrow also.
SO your best bet will be to enter Gate 2 on 37th Street. They are doing construction over on Gate 1 by the hotel, so you might want to avoid that gate.
OH....just checked my messages and added another name to the list TONIGHT. SNAKE is coming too....should be here sometime friday evening.

After a late breakfast, we packed up camp, and got everything back home. I fell asleep on the couch watching the race around 4:00 and work up 9 or so..I think that DOUBLED the amount of sleep I got since Friday LOL..i hurt ALL OVER.. but no complaints. I POURED rain here tonight, so I'm glad it waited until after the rally! O0
