Title: The X sputters in 2nd gear
Post by: diverg on October 23, 2016, 06:58:06 PM
So when my 1300 hundred has been sitting for a awhile (happens often) and the weather is cool like yesterday and this morning. The X sputters when shifting to 2nd gear. It only happens in 2nd gear and only the first couple times I have shift into 2nd. Then it is fine. What would cause this?

Not knowing if during the non riding time , did you crank the bike and let it idle during this time period , if you did this

your plugs may be slightly fouled , and depending on the amount of time your gas may be a little stale . The best

thing to do is get out and ride , just get on any road ride out 40 to 60 , miles  burn out the old gas then come back  .

then put in fresh gas , and ride some more.

BE safe

Bizarre issue.  I am certianly not an expert on the 1300 but don't think there is anything different with 2nd gear electronically or mechanically other than the ratio.  What RPM's are you seeing this happen and are you repeating the other shifts at the same RPM?  Have you tried going to a higher RMP in 1st and skipping to third?

If it was gas, wouldn't it happen in all the gears?

I would think so, but it never hurts for a shot of foam from time to time.
It appears it only happens in second gear, for me I wouldn't worry about it unless it happened all the time. At this point it could be any number of things, ride it until it tells you there is a defendant problem which would lead you to a fix.  :c
