Title: Maw Maw's
Post by: Gumbo on August 05, 2013, 08:21:02 AM
I talked to the ladies this morning and they are always at the Whitehouse location.
I am good with either location, what ever works best for the group  ;D I can make it the weekend of Aug 31 or the following weekend after that I am back to Seattle. :(
So which location and which weekend works best for everyone ??? ???   :bikerider:

I can make the later date but cannot over the Labor Day weekend. Besides, I do not like to travel on Holidays, too much traffic.

Seeing as the two locations are about 6.5 miles apart, I think I'd prefer the original Whitehouse location. The smokehouse locations in Tyler and Longview also have the pies but they are cooked fresh in Whitehouse. However, ...I'll go anywhere you guys want to go.  :lunch: :lunch: :lunch:

I'm in for anytime up to mid/late September.

Gary, sorry to hear about this.  Prayers for you and the family.  I'm assuming he was not your brother by the way you worded it.

I'm planning on being there...I need a nice, long leisurely ride through the woods to Maw Maw's house!   ;D  Probably get up really early and take the long way around.

Okay, I've come up with a tentative route, which will take us through two national forests and around/over Lake Livingston.  It is about a 200-mile/4 hour ride (plus time for gas/rest stops), so we can figure out meet up times in Conroe and go from there.  How early would y'all like to get on the road?

Tell me what you think of this route...shouldn't be any hidden surprises like dirt roads, sheep/donkeys/cows appearing out of nowhere, etc.   :couch:

With the way you started the route how about everyone meet at my house. Airport road is like a half a mile away.

You pick a time and let me know.
As long as there is no rain in the forecast I'm good.  ;-)

Man, it was great to see old and new faces, and to finally get in a nice long ride.  I logged in at 400+ miles for the day, but the last 200 was definitely brutal.  But the pies were still worth the ride.  And I actually lost a pound from this morning's weigh in.   ;D. That's a lot of sweat.

Man I want to thank you guys for setting this up....great to see everyone again and Jason was a bonus even if we didn't get to catch up much. So I took off with Wahoo, Nasty Jim and StrandedTexan when Chad and his crew took off. Man they can sure fly!!! This old guy and his bike just aren't up to flying at the speed of sound. Funny the last I saw them they were headed due west. I took the turn off onto HWY 19 towards Emory (which btw was where I was going to meet up with Chad this morning). Great scenery and well worth the detour. I stopped at the gas station (think there was ONLY 1) and go into the store to get some water and soak my vest again, guess who I see pull up at the pump? Yep Chad and the Misses!!! After saying our goodbyes I headed due west on the blacktop and you will not believe what I saw in one of the driveways just outside of Greenville? Pics are below. All in all an aswome day....

It was good to see everyone.

I agree the ride home was rough ,we hit a spot where the temp was 95 , I hate to say it but that felt good compared to 99 and 100.

You could always add a Rocket III to the stable and reverse the roles with those 1800 riders!   >:D

So I need something thats bigger an faster, like a 111 Cubic Inch ThunderStroke powered Indian with 6 speeds, kinda like the one I'm sitting on in my sig pic?

Hate it that I missed the ride, I did ride to DFW and back yesterday, Interstate all the way. That sucked. You all had more fun than me. :cuss: :banghead:  Hope to see you all soon.

Actually, even with Indian's new motor, the specs are almost identical with the 2002 1800 motor.  It might come down to the riders in that race.  But with a 2300cc triple, I know who wins that race every time!

Those danged pies are awesome!  Bacon, egg and gravy...MMmmmMM!  It was great to meet/see everyone again.  Deana is still gushing.  The ride home sucked, but the ride up was very nice.  My newbie buddy that could not make it had a look on his face like I stole his ice cream when I told the tale!  HA! Good stuff!

Great to see everyone, sorry if I missed some during introductions. Pies were excellent, the ride was fun. I left there and rode to Shreveport before heading home, got pretty warm by the time I rolled into Louisiana, LOL. Last time I headed to Shreveport a week ago for a starship concert, I had a flat on the rear, so this was a much better trip!

Sorry I missed it guys.  Looked like a really good turn out.  I was actually on my way back from the hill country.  I took the bike with me, but didn't do much riding.  just needed some R & R this go round.  Will try the next one.

I will not be making that ride again in August.  I was not sure if we were going to make it home.  It was way too hot for that ride home straight into the sun.  We may try to make the one in September if it is much, much cooler...

I am with you buddy, no more August rides for me unless it is to the store for beer.  :t
