Title: Fresh List of Meet and Greet Suggestions.
Post by: j1mmyj4m on September 07, 2011, 01:22:24 PM
Please feel free to offer new locations for meet and greets.  Also, label where the location is in relation to the center of Houston.  North, South, West or Central.  We dropped east a while back due to lack of peeps showing up.

Nomercy...have you been to the place?  I looked it up on line and they don't include their prices (which makes me wonder), plus they said reservations recommended.  Plus their webpage is not as down to earth looking as the flyer you posted...more high scale looking...cloth napkins/tablecloths, wine glasses...they list wine and sparkling water on their menu, but no beer.  Concerned that they might be a little more upper class then this group is used to, lol.

This place has great BBQ.
Is it too far north for a north-side M&G?
(it is on the far south end of the lake)

Title: Bone Daddy's
Post by: mrjones on April 01, 2013, 09:55:35 AM
I'd like to nominate a new place on the south side of town called Bone Daddy's.  It's new, only been open a couple of months.  It's a BBQ style restaurant with a service them similar to Twin Peaks.  I ate there this weekend for the first time and the food is awesome.  They also have dedicated motorcycle parking on the north side of the building.  It's right on the east side of I45 just north of NASA Road 1 and south of Bay Area Blvd.  They also play great classic rock and blues music inside.

It's too bad that Little Bigs will probably be gone by the time we get back around to it. The "La Di Da" restaurants have taken up the parking area and the employees and security guards take up Little Bigs parking. Doesn't leave much for LB customers. I expect LB will succumb to the parking war.

To add, Wednesday at MaK's is $1 Taco night.  By Taco they mean Fajita with all the fixins.  Beef, Chicken, Shrimp or Chirizo and they are fantastic.  Nothing like 2 beers and dinner for $5.

Beach Bums on FM2920 by Rhodes (I think) has $10 Steak Night on Wednesday and it's damn good.  It comes with a Salad, baked potato and 12oz T-bone for $10.  It's a bar and feels like a bar but the food is excellent.

Concert Pub @ FM1960 and Kuykendahl is another one with food deals and usually not very crowded.  If they are the Boat is next door.  I had the $1 Hamburger there a few weeks ago.  Fries were $2...LOL.  Between the Burger, fries and $1 beer I spent under $10 and left feeling very thrifty.  The burger wasn't bad....but wasn't great.  They have other food which is much better but not $1.

These two and MaK's are the only places I have gone to on Wednesday on the bike.  I am sure that Wolfies is good but I heard the one on FM1960 has gone down hill a lot so probably will stick to the one in the Woodlands.  There is a biker bar on the feeder just south of Rayford Sawdust I need to check out, they had crawfish but don't know if they serve food regular.  It's a real dive, good atmosphere.  There is the place (can't remember the name) in Tomball just off the main road, outside seating and really good eats.  I have hit that on a Sunday afternoon before and it was really cool.

One thing to keep in mind regarding locations for M&Gs is that we need a place where the atmosphere is not so loud we cannot hear each other talk.  We went to a bar/food place a few weeks back and it was impossible to communicate with each other...defeats the purpose of getting together.

Beer/drinking is a fun part of the M&G, but the main purpose is BSing with each other and if we can't do that then why have a M&G at all?

Just a few that were already here, some posted by others and some by me plus I added a couple.  I am sure there are tons more but I don't know all the cool little hidden places in the Spring/Tomball Area.  I know that Mak's and Beachbums are bars that have specials on Wednesday.  Beach Bum's is a dump pretty much but the food is really good.  I was surprised that Mel's wasn't already on the list, it's really hidden good but a LOT of people know where it is.  Great catfish and lots of fried stuff.

Rocket, thanks a bunch for your suggestions.  It helps to get new blood in and refresh a sometimes stagnant set up.  I have added notes to the places you suggested.

NORTH

Boudreaux's Cajun Kitchen  We frequent the west location alot...will add this one
17595 Tomball Pkwy
Houston, TX 77064

Willies Ice House  For Wed M&G we don't tend to go this far out of central Houston.  I try to keep it within 30 miles of DT Houston, that way no matter what direction you are coming from, it hopefully is not too far away.  What is the general consensus of members, do you want M&G locations to be further out???

Cisco’s Salsa Company  Sounds interesting...will add it in

Texas Roadhouse  Sometimes these types restaurants are hard to do since we NEVER know how many are showing up...getting a table for anywhere from 2-15 people frustrates them, lol

Tomball, Texas 77375
(281) 255-9191

Chuy’s Tex-Mex Didn't have this one either
18035 W Interstate 45 Service Rd,

This one was on page 1, I just recycled it.

This one is just north of FM242 so I think it's still pretty much considered The Woodlands.  Either way, there is one on FM249 that is pretty nice by Cypresswood.

Mak’s Sports Bar and Grill  Was done on Feb 11th

Went there last night....tacos still great!!

Yay. I just found out that there is a Lido deck.  The door for that is just to the left when you enter.  That would be a nice place to hang our helmets for dinner.

Cool.

The Shack Burger Resort. Humongous burgers and a very creative burger menu. Guareenteed to clog your Artie's and fill your belly. Two locations in the Cypress area. One on Telge a few miles North of 290 and another location off of Cypress Rosehill.
