How can you say Texas roads suck?  This is main street in downtown Union Grove, Texas between Zavalla & San Augustine.  I have no complaints.  (Just around this curve is a row of homes, just before this curve is the Union Grove Baptist Church & cemetery)

These folks at this ranch must not be from Texas, maybe you ran into some unfriendly folk like them.  The 2nd picture is a closeup of the sign by their gate.

I'm not sure I care to ride arond Tx any more...  :'(

The Texas arond is one critter that needs to be ridden with spurs.  Put some spurs on and ride around on an arond.

I find the arond to be quite tasty, slow smoked over hickory, and with a nice jalapeno RUB!!

Nice thing about our freedoms.  If you guys don't like riding Texas roads, you have the freedom to move where you do enjoy them.  We won't necessarily miss you.

After my trip to Virginia, I'm starting to feel like Texas needs to catch up. The ride we took to Luray, VA from Fredericksburg, VA kicked Cranberries. And It just got better from there all the way down the BRP and over to the Dragon. Now that was one serious damn road. I'd seen pics and vids, but you have no idea until you get there.

haha...

"We won't necessarily miss you" is pretty defensive.  We're talking about the roads.  Granted, Arkansas, Missouri and Kentucky made us feel like movie stars, but thats another subject.

We went through 14 states and the roads here don't compare.  Pavement or views.  I've ridden to Alaska as well and I think I enjoyed this trip more since we never went through large towns.

That was West Virginia.  I can honestly say that they are the weirdest people I have ever met.  The state is AMAZING, but I will not be visiting it again for a while.

I wasn't referring to the movie, just the weirdness factor.  I've never seen the movie...just heard everything about it.

We only met a handfull of people there and they were out there.

I thnk that comes from Lovin their sisters.  ;D I have always found people from Florida to be a bit dense or should I say different.
I'm headed East myself next trip. I'll always love the hill country but I'm tired of riding for a day to get there when I can ride for a day in the other direction and go through 2 or 3 states and see something different.  O0

God just saw fit to make some of us different. I go to Denver, and back east, often enough for me. I love to ride the mountains, but I cant wait to get home. I have been from coast to coast and got to admit I love it all, but that wide open panhandle 2 lane does it for me. In the mountains I slowly get pissed at all the curves, and 25-30mph roads. Back east its all those damn trees cluttering up the scenery. The forever closed in feeling of seldom being able to see beyond the ditch.
I can handle the open sea, or the open plains, just fine. I can deal with the rest of it for as long as necessary. I know I'm home when I can  let that fat girl clear her lungs and push those 3 digits for 50mi at a time.
To most my area is a long boring place to cross as quickly as possible, Same here, but I love crossing it at a good clip. I get bored with  never ending curves, and trees, and AppleSauce splat towns, every 5 miles.

Nicely put Tomcat, I 'm right there with you. Any of ya'll don't like it here, I'm with you too, I hope you get to leave as soon as you can. You need to be where you are happy. I just happen to like it here. I like the piney woods of east Texas, The Gulf coast, The Texas hill country, I enjoy the Mexican flavor of the Rio Grande Valley and the Border area. I like the Davis mountains , the High desert east of El paso and of course, the pagentry of Big Bend. Yes, I do enjoy the wide open spaces of the panhandle and believe it or not , I like living in the fourth largest city in the nation, Houston by God Texas. So do what you need to do , to get where you want to be, I'm stayin' "rait cheer" ( that's right here for ya'll that don't speak Texan) :) :)

I had a huge post typed up, but essentially I feel would be doing myself a disservice not breaking outside of the imaginary dotted line surrounding me and experiencing what the US has to offer.  I'm Texas born and it probably has the best atmosphere of any state I've been through, but when it comes to roads and views, there are way better in my eyes.  Living in the Houston area all of my life, this flatland is far from a bikers dream.

It's easy to tell someone to move when you get offended, but there's more to life than just pride.  I've come to accept the fact that Texas is not the end all be all when it comes to riding...for me.  As for people, that's another topic.  It's tough to beat Texans.

I've ridden lots of roads that I like better than Texas roads too...  but that's only because it was summer time.   Try comparing them about the middle of January...

I never told someone to move, someone said they couldn't wait to get out of here, I simply said I hope they get what they want as soon as they possibly could get it. I was being supportive.

Come on up Hobo, I can show ya roads where ya might see another car every 10 miles or so. Believe it or not you will want a Kodac.

I've been down a lot of roads in my day. I've slept on Slumgullium Pass in Colorado on the fourth of July and had ice on my tent in the morning. OK, OK, I was at 11,800+ feet that morning. Sure beats Houston in July. I've also been on a cruise ship in the eastern Caribbean in December. 85 degrees sure beats Houston in December.  ;) But this is home. It's flat and boring to some people. But I know where curves are within a mile of the house that will really test your skills. I know where straightaways are that you can really test your engine on. But just because I'm from Texas doesn't mean I'm against other states. There's WAY WAY TOO MUCH of the US of A that I haven't seen yet. I still wanna see icebergs calve. I want to see HUGE redwoods. I want to see buffalo. I want to see smoke rising over the hills. I wanna piss on the chair my seniliator sits in. None of those things can happen in Texas but this is where I come back to.
