I am following a blog of a guy that has spent the last year riding south America on a 650 suzuki. He says in SA a big bike gets you noticed but a small bike gets you IN.

I have read a few reports of guys on big bikes in south america like a bmw f800gs (http://www.bmwmotorcycles.com/us/en/bike/enduro/2012/f800gs/f800gs_overview.html) (not a BIG bike by our standards 800cc twin) and almost every time they stop, a crowd forms of people wanting to look a the bike, get pictures.... they get noticed a LOT
