If any one is interested....thought I would pass this along....

Please mark your calendars for March 17th for a motorcycle ride....

  Now... here is the story....

A couple of months before Christmas, one of my motorcycle officers became sick with
flu-like symptoms while working an accident.  He was nauseated and got sick by the road
and called another officer out to help him out.  As luck always has it, when he got back
on his motorcycle to come to the station, the battery was dead.  After jumping off the
motorycle, he rode back to the station with another officer following.  He was obviously
weaving while driving but we just thought he was feeling sick.  He got back to the station
and went home.  After his symptoms just continued to get worse, he went to the hospital.
After some tests, all of the usual hospital stuff, it was decided to do an MRI.  When they
did the MRI, a tumor was found in his brain.  A subsequent surgery was performed, removing
part of his skull, just to assess the tumor.  Well... it the worst possible news.  The
tumor was in Stage 4 and inoperable.  For the past couple of months, he has been going
thru chemo
treatments and ratiation treatments in an effort to slow or reduce the tumor.  The bottom
line is that the prognosis is not good.  The doctors do not expect him to live past
October of this year.

Officer Robert Hodges is 44 years old, married, an 8 year old son and of course,
mounting medical bills.

Now... here is what March 17th is about.   The citizens of Southlake are truly amazing.
They have learned of Robert's situation and we had a citizen with "connections"
step forward and offer to do "something".  He and the motorcycle officers
decided that a motorcycle ride would be appropriate since Robert is a motorcycle officer.
The ride is the Shamrock Run starting at Bedford Harley Davidson.  It will start there,
proceed like a toy run with a police escort through the metroplex and end up back at
Bedford Harley.

Now... here is the amazing part...
Craig Ludwig with the Dallas Stars is going to be there
The Stars Ice girls will be there
        Hooters girls will be there
Sports memorabilia will be there for silent auctions (signed Stars jerseys, etc)
Live music by the "Bulldog Blues Band"
The fee is $20 and that gets you food with $2.00 beer
All of the food and beer have been donated

Every single penny raised with this event will go the Hodges family in an effort to set
up a college fund for the 8 year old boy.   Every single item (food, band, memorabilia,
beer, etc. has been donated.
Russ Martin is going to advertise it
Craig Ludwig is going to advertise it on his talk show
Dallas Stars are going to advertise it at the American Airlines Center

I will send out a flyer as soon as I get it.

I apologize for the long email, but thought you would want to know the story.  Please
feel free to send this to anyone that might want to show up at the event or ride.

  Thanks...

Yep O0 I'm trying to get hold of Chad and make a ride east of here. Got Dave (txvtxrider) on for a ride. Kinda waiting on weather and Chad to see what will happen. East Texas will be the area and that's about the best I can say at the moment. Would love to have you join in and anybodyelse from the FTW area. As we get closer, I know we're out planning time, something will take shape, right or wrong.  O0. Stay tuned for further delevopments, I'm riding Thursday anyway, east, west, north, south, don't matter. Stay tuned Dan, the best is yet to come ;D ;D O0

Hey Silvertribal Driver:

The run is with Honda Suzuki North.  I am sure there are several stops on the way.  The service manager that is organizing the ride stated that they have mapped out their route on the way up and it zig zags through north Texas and into Oklahoma so I am sure there will be gas and bathroom breaks in some of the small towns.  On the way back we are heading straight south on IH35.

I want to meet up with you sometime soon and check out the new bars on your bike.

-Iceman

OK, Sounds good..  Unless something comes up, I'm planning on doing that ride with you guys.  Keep me posted.

CHANGE OF PLANS FOR THIS SATURDAY.  I am going to have to bail on the Turner Falls ride.  I decided that the right thing to do would be to be part of the benefit ride for the ill police officer and help out his 8 year old son..  Hopefully, there will be a nice turnout for the Hodges family...

Chad  - Thought you had yard work Thursday? I'm up and running tomorrow cause Friday is kinda if 'ie on the weather thingy. I was goina head over your way (Chad) to make sure you weren't lying about workin in the yard and say SURPRIZE. Be the dumps to ride over and your out criusing elsewhere. >:( Man, one of y'all say the word where and I'm on the road. Dan what's your thoughts? I'm game. O0 All rides must include a bar or 3 somewhere in the trip. O0 O0 O0 8) Tomorrow is supposed to be one beautiful momma intercoarser for riding and I'm running either way, had some plans laid but the surprize factor is out of the bag and ain't happening. Dan, if we go east, you've got the most ground to cover, if west, Chad has the most, if north, then I've got the most, but it don't matter to me, lay a place and where to meet and we'll go from there. O0 Anybody else reading this post is more than welcome to chime in with their $.02  and ride too!! O0

Hey, it doesn't matter to me...  I do agree with the minimum of three bar stops for refreshments and snacks!!  I did say three minimum too!!  ;D ;D  So, whatever you guys decide is cool with me...  Let's try to centrally locate though...

I could be the bodyguard outside the bars...hey I love that idea...some dorky dude sittin around outside a bar watching the bikes?  hahaha  I'm down with any direction, but for me, I would really prefer to stay out of a bar.  Been there, done that...can't do it again.  Bad experiences.

I can understand your position and understand your feelings, drink Dr Pepper, I'll buy, and if there's dancing ladies then that's a whole new can of worms O0 O0 :D. I'll make sure you don't drink or carry anything home to momma, trust me. ;D ;D :D O0

man Al you are going to just make this as rough on me as possible, aint ya.  hahahaha...cant do dancing women either...its not the momma thing, its a Christian thing, not downing what you do, I've just turned away from that stuff not too long ago and dont want to be anywhere near it personally.  Maybe we can catch up Saturday morning sometime if tomorrow doesn't work out.  Sorry to disappoint or seem judgmental in any way bc thats the last thing I want to do or be.
