I must've missed ya this past Sunday....  I left early, too.  We are there every Sunday around noon o'clock.  Look forward to see you.

I've got an issue I could use some help with if anybody has ideas....

When I changed my front tire, the fork oil leaked out of my right fork.

What happened was that the drain bolt that attaches to the dampner backed out all the way so when I drove the axle through the fork, the oil and bolt came right out.

I had to take the fork apart from the top to push the dampner back down to the bottom of the shock to re-thread the bolt but, when trying to tighten the bolt, the dampner would just spin when trying to tighten it.  I put it back together as best I could and re-filled it with fork oil but, I'm pretty sure the bolt has worked it's way back out.  I have a clunk in the front end now.

I'm guessing I'll need an impact wrench to tighten that damned bolt but, I don't have one here.

Anybody want to help me rebuild a fork?  I may have to just go and buy an impact wrench.  I've got an old air compressor here.

I have an impact wrench, decent air compressor and a free Saturday afternoon, after 3p.  But, I am by no means a mechanic.  Is that something that can be done in a few hours?  I have tools, but no real mechanical knowledge or ideas.  Also, I have no real way to transport my compressor.

Cool.

It's pretty easy.  How about a bike jack? We have to get the weight off the forks.

I've already had them apart once so, I'm pretty familiar with it.

Just have to pop the fork cap, remove this spring retention washer ( or whatever it's called ) to get to push the dampner back down to the bottom of the fork.  Hammer the axle part way through the right fork.  Put the drain bolt and washer back in and get them tight then put the thing back together.

The whole thing will probably take 30-45mins tops.

I may be better off just borrowing an impact wrench from somebody or having someone bring one by for a couple of hrs.  Just in case something unforseen happens and I can't get the bike right back together.  I've got everything but an impact wrench.

I'm guessing I'll need an impact wrench to tighten that damned bolt but, I don't have one here.
You don't want to use an impact on that bolt.  It's only supposed to be tightened to 14 ftlbs of torque, that's not much.  What you have to do is install the upper retaining washer so that the spring holds pressure on the dampener.  Then you need to add thread locker to the bolt before you install it as well. (per the manual)  I used blue loc-tite.  You're supposed to use a new copper gasket as well, I would suggest getting one if you can.
