We werent able to attend the rally last year because we had a major water leak in our house that very weekend. I was PI$$ed too >:( LOL...so I really cant provide any specifics about last years rally.

Which Snyder? When I looked up Snyder on Mapquest, there are 2 in Texas. Which county is it in?

I wasnt aware that there was 2 Snyders in Texas, but the rally is at the Snyder in Scurry County Texas. Its located in the center (somewhat) of a triangle between Lubbock, Abilene, and Midland. Check it out, and for those who might need additional info, email me because I live here...LOL.
I'll go ahead and recommend one hotel for ya right off the bat....its the Purple Sage. They were nice enough to let me reserve a room because our house had water damage, and let us know that if we had the problem under control last minute, we could back out of the room with no charge because they were pretty confident they could still book it. We cancelled the room at 7 pm the NIGHT of the rally, and they didnt charge us anything, so that was very nice of them. Yeah, we missed the rally last year because of the water problem.....Anyways, one good favor deserves a return, so they get my recommendation.

I deffinitly have a ride planned to go to Abilene to watch my sister play soccer, possibly after the game if I can get a bunch of riders we will scoot on up to Snyder. If I cant get a few more riders that is fine as well, I am still going to come to Abilene to watch the game maybe we could meet up and throw back a few frosties. I will let you know more O0

I ride to work every single day that the weather is nice and I'm the type of guy who will just take off on a little 2 or 3 hundred mile hop on a spur of the moment. I love riding with others, but most people over here don't ever talk about riding together or try to plan rides. That is why I hang out with a lot of the Ft. Worth guys.
Get the guys together and come down for the bikefest... It is within your 200 - 300 mile hop. It was great riding with you guys at RFD3... Ya'll need to bring it on down here!

Now we're talking! How does this sound to everyone...
Lets get the Texas X group together while everyone is here......we should all try to meet up somewhere if that will fit into the plans for the weekend....what do yall think??
I've already talked to a cpl who is helping with the rally, and they are trying to bring more vendors in this year for metric bikes. There will also be 2 areas of camping.....one is called the "Library" for those who want to get to bed early, and get a good nights sleep. The other area will be called the "Zoo" and will be the partying group of folks that want to be close to the beer garden. If we want to try and all park in the same area of the lot, my suggestion is close to the beer garden and the zoo!! I may be able to print up a small sign or something, and designate an empty area of the parking lot so we can all park in the same place....let me know. I think it would be VERY cool to line about 10 or 20 VTX's in a row...and show off JUST HOW SHARP a metric cruiser can be. Now...before any of you "other riders" (aka non VTX) riders chime in.....yes I love the harleys too... and the Boulevards...etc..etc..etc...so bring em!! Snyder is trying to get this rally to become a bigger rally event over time, so come on over and have a good time, do some riding, and meet others from this forum. Bring whatcha got and put some mileage on it. 8)

Here is the latest on the schedule of events, I will post it when I get it.
Michael, The schedule of events will not be finished until the week before the rally, so I can't really send you any info as of yet. The event starts on Thursday, but the stunt events are mostly on Friday and Saturday I think. The gates open at 7am on Thursday, and the vendors will be arriving all day and setting up, if they don't make it in on Wednesday. There are other things happening in town that weekend, so I think you'll find plenty to do. All bike events will take place on the grounds and the White Buffalo Days stuff will be happening downtown on the square and at the airport. Have everyone meet at the rally, you'll be able to find your gang, we have two or three camping areas The Zoo (for the rowdys) The library (for the more dossile) and The Desert (for the loners) so meet up there or at the Beer Garden, you won't have trouble finding each other (gated area). Hope to see ya at the rally. K

What would be better camping or motel?

HI Kebs, thats really up to you....but what type of camping? If your talking about RV hook ups, there are a one or two places available. If your thinking about getting a hotel, you may want to try and book something now.

I have tried all weekend there is nothing available at any of the 5 places listed. They told me I might want to try one of the surrounding cities one is 22 miles away and the other is 35 miles. I am not sure of what cities are around there, but I am still looking. Oh and I will be riding up Thursday since it is supposed to be about 10 hrs for me to get there. I just wasn't sure if it was like a place where you can set up a tent and camp or not.

There is camping available on the coliseum grounds... That's how I plan on spending the weekend...

Just checked both ways the other through Austin its a bit shorter but actualklly longer drive time but not by much so if I must trailer grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr will go up through Austin since I will be on the road late gottra watch for the little deer.

That may be your quickest route, at least most of it, being the Interstates, but I'd cut off earlier and head to 20, or you can draw a straight line to Brownwood, TX and figure out what roads to take to there, and then to Abilene and over to Snyder.

No promise involved, but I will try to make it. Back in 73 or so Grand Funk came to Amarillo, My friends and I drove up from Hedley, to find it was sold out. If i can bring my old bro I will, his health is not good now. If I can come alone, I will. If I can't get loose at all I'm going to be unhappy.

The latest for those that are camping...
The camping area is one big grassy area, and it is first come get the best spots. But there are several camping spots The Zoo (for the rowdys) The Library (the calmer bunch) and the Desert (the hard core campers) so there are many area that can be accessed. Last yeqar we had about 20 campers in tents and there should be at least that many and maybe double that this year. Lots are bringing a RV, so they will have water and electricity. There will be fire rings if you get there early, get one for your group. There will be showers this year, and you can purchase a shower ticket at registration when you come in, we didn't think of that last year, so we are doing better. I think you'll have plenty of space for camp sites, and everyone got along pretty good last year. Only one chase car per tent site allowed inside the gate, so pile everything in one vehicle if possible. We are trying to keep all four wheelers out of the gated area. Just a couple weeks left!! Ive been talking with a few of the organizers about the rally, and they are really pushing this rally. It should be bigger than last year. In fact, Im part of the Bike Rodeo games team now....LOL. We'll be helping out on Friday night, so hope to see everyone there. Any chance we can get a few more X riders and bring that number that number on PAGE 1 to over 20??
Come on out and have a good time. I'll try and get the details for the schedule of events, and I'll be going over to the Grounds today because they are "sectioning" everything off (the parking, vendors area, camp areas, etc. I'm going to work on a sign or banner that we can put up also. If anybody needs info, give me a call on the cell @325 207 1473..
Oh, and one more thing.....I'm really hoping to hear some aftermarket VTX exhaust systems so I can decide if I want the V and H big shots...so hopefully yall can help me out..step up and make some noise.....LOL!

I just finished the banner tonight. I sent an email to Murray, and we'll get it added to the posting on Page 1. We've been sitting at 14 Riders on the list for awhile now.....come on out next weekend and lets BUMP that number up to +20!
I'd sure like to see this become an annual stop for a GTG. Come check it out. Benham called me on the phone, and asked me about the tent set up, so that will be available also. I'm going to set up my tent down there which is half tent/ and half screenroom for X riders to use while we are there O0

Tom, although he looks older, Mark Farner is a live wire onstage, even more than when he was young. I saw them about three years ago and he was flying all over the stage all the time. Crazy.

Ok....Ive got more info about the rally. We did a radio station broadcast on 102.7 today (Abilene station from 12 to 1 pm on monday...>Did yall hear it???LOL.
Basically, here's what I can tell ya off the top of my head: Gates open at 7 am on Friday. The Sphere of Death will be doing 5 shows at various times on both friday AND saturday. The MOTOR drome will put on 3 shows friday and 3 shows saturday. The BIKE stunt team will be doing about 3 shows on each day as well. The CMA is putting on a bike games event....and yall dont want to miss the BIKER RODEO GAMES, which are going on both friday and Saturday night. My wife and I are helping another couple head this up....and I GUARANTEE you wont want to miss it. The CMA does the "normal" bike games that demonstrate riding ablilities......BUT the BIKER rodeo games takes it a step farther. We do stuff like the slow roll competion, and then digress to other games like Road Kill, Honey Im Home, the Weenie Grab, etc...... COME BY AND CHECK this stuff out....it will be a lot of fun to see even if you dont want to partipate. For those that are going to see GRAND FUNK on saturday and want to check out the Biker Rodeo games....my advice is to come by Friday night because we will be doing rodeo games on saturday at the same time the Concert is going on. The Concert on Friday night isnt starting until after the Rodeo games event if the scheduling does not change between now and the weekend.
The Poker Run is on Saturday morning for those that are interested in that. Oh.....and for everyone riding in who gets their bike dirty and can't stand to see it stay that way, there will be a BIKINI Bike wash available ($20 per bike) on Saturday I think. For those that want to enter their bikes into the bike show....register for that sometime on Friday, and the judging tentatively is scheduled to start on Saturday at noon.....which may interfere with the Poker run.....not sure on the details of this one however?? There are TONS of vendors available, there will be LED installers on hand for those interested in that. There's a pancake breakfast available across the street from the Collosiem on Saturday morning if I remember correctly. There will be a night time display/LED parade for those who want to show off their bikes after dark, and I'll be in that one if it doesnt conflict with the Biker Rodeo Games.
Im only scratching the surface of whats available, but dont quote me. When you come into town, there will be official info available at the registration booths, but I thought you might want the insider info a little early....LOL! Some of this info could change, so check your official Rally Info when you get here and register!!!

For those wanting to come in thursday......its possible to get onto the collosiem grounds, and set up your tent, but you wont be able to register for the rally until Friday. Ive got the area sectioned off for the group, and I'll be setting a tent up in there in the morning on Wed....see ya there.

I still hope to make it but if I do not have the new pipes on not going anywhere grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.I sold the old ones and trying to get the BUBS on but not having alot of luck seems the mount does not fit the bike but anyway gonna try like hell to get er done.

KEBS and I have arrived. Let the good times begin. The only wonder I've seen so far is Kebs HD. That 110cc motor got close to 50 and even 1 time 50 miles per gallon while crusing at 80mph. Can't pick on those 1800s any more. Dam I hate it when that happens.

110cc, I can't wait to see that bike, I got to big a motor guess that is why my gas milege is so bad. Leaving out at 6am should be there by 8:30. See ya'll tommorow. :D

110ci is what DAR meant to say. I am having so much fun!!!! I've met a lot of awesome people and played a lot too!! Can't wait to take both bikes to the track, so far this Harley kicks everyones butt!! Even some other Harley's wanted to play, but they maxed out at only 110 heheheee. Even DAR's 1300 can do 110.

Thanks to all that came out and visited our small town of Snyder.....BUT just because we're a small town doesnt mean we didnt have a great turn out and a GREAT RALLY! We enjoyed meeting yall. Ive been posting on Texas X riders and VTXOA for only a few months now, but it was great being able to put faces to the names. Im also glad I was able to roll my butt outta bed and say hey before yall headed out sunday morning. I was pretty rough.......LOL. O0

DAR DAVE: How did the tattoo come out?
BENHAM: Hopefully by next year....I'll be running those Big Shots....I finally got a chance to hear em in person, and now I want em!
MURRAY: thanks for helping me talk up the Rally....i think it lived up to the expectations for its second year.
FOR EVERYBODY ELSE that was on the fence and decided not to attend.....get with the people that did go and ask them about it. Then mark it on your 2008 calenders because you wont want to miss it! If I'm able to do so next year, I'll mark off the same area of the zoo for the Texas X and VTXOA camp!

yeah, we didn't bring any fire wood and didn't want to pay for it, so the picture of the guy with the brush end of the broom... yeah that's the beginning of the fire wood, then came part of a barrier, and later part of a tree.

Well it was nice to finally meet some of you guys. Had a great time, those that didn't make it better luck next year. For a small town Snyder really opened the door for everyone and had a lot to offer. Don't worry Dar that infection will go away in a week or so. ;D

Had a great trip, We didn't camp with our fellow X riders, we got put in the back lot, When the camp next to us turned out to be the Miller beer boys who got kicked out of a cook off, with free food and free beer, we were happy. Just when we thought it couldn't get any better,The sisterhood of 69 pulled up. Yea, we had fun in Snyder.
The rest of the trip was a blast, too. We had planned to go to Galviston to do some fishing, we stopped in at Lukinbach for a hour or two, and after getting back on the road, Port Aransas seemed the better choice. We went, The gulf was rough, I busted my Cranberries when we took a big swell. Ben and I were among the few who didn't get sea sick. While there, we walked out on the fishing pier just to check it out, and found a long time family friend fishing there. They fed us, and showed us where and how to fish on the island. Lady luck smiled on us at every turn. Picks coming soon.

We had a great time at the White Buffalo. The fact that everything was held on the same grounds was a BIG plus.
Rob did a great job for the X Riders. We met a lot of new friends. KEBS and DAR thanks for the leftovers, next time there on us! All in all it was a great time and it was close to home.

Its just south of South of Snyder, Lake??? Lake??? You know the one, Where all the Wet backs, who can't swim end up. It's only 23 beers south of Snyder.
