Where to buy tires or mounted in Houston area
« on: December 26, 2013, 10:25:20 PM »

I need to get a new tire for the front of my 1300C, where is the best place to either buy and have mounted or just buy online and have it mounted. I can find good prices online, but worried about cost to have M&B.  Any help is definitely appreciated!

Don't know what side of Houston you are in.  I'm in the Katy area but have always purchased my tires from a fellow out in Brookshire named Roy at his place Jackal Motorsports West.  He was always been the lowest anywhere near me.  I typically remove my own wheels and drop them off and he replaces the tires and balances for about $35.00 each.

On the east side of Houston in Pasadena, is Discount Motorcycle Tire on Spencer Highway. Reasonable prices on tires and mounting and reasonable time to do the work.

Of Course it's dirty. It's hard to clean when the tires keep moving.

Motorcycles unlimited on 1960, Mount and balance $15 per wheel plus cost of weights if you remove the wheels. Check local and compare to online pricing.

I have "heard" bad things like loose axel bolts from these guys.

I have SEEN!  where they over tightened the brake caliper bolts on my yamaha FZ1.  These are hollow bolts that don't need a whole lot of torque.  When we tried to remove the front tire for replacement during a weekend trip, because the bolts were on so tight head of the bolt stripped when we tried to use a normal wrench VS's the impact wrench that was used to put the bolt on.  had to beat the bolt off using a hammer and chisel.

Since then I always just taken my wheels off and take them into a shop to get the new rubber on.

Thanks for the replies. I found a tire online for $61 and called discount tire aka On the Border and they said that would sell me the same tire for $101 and with M&B it would be close to $150 with tax. Sounds a little steep to me. GOE in Angleton will mount and balance for $42 whether you buy from them or not, same tire there is $81. I am going to try Honda of Houston next, someone said thy are pretty reasonable just not to close to me.
