Title: I just got back from Big Bend

For the second year in a row, a few of us went down to Big Bned for the weekend.
We left very early Friday morning, and ended up in Alpine. After some night riding to see the Marfa lights (I still havent seen them) we logged 642 miles on the bike (new 1 day personal best for me)
By the time I got home for dinner on Sunday, 1620 miles in 3 days.
The bike ran flawlessly, special thanks to my ultimate seat, and my newest must have, a sheepskin cover.
Me on the other hand, am burnt, tired and carrying a layer layer of road grime that can be seen from a distance.
...and I have just been told there a smell coming from me....

I'm ready to do it again next month....

Ooh - sounds fun!

We went to Marfa for Christmas a few years back and stayed w/ some friends. Went to Alpine to church. My son's bday is Dec 23, so that day - the dh (that we stayed with) took ds up in a plane. (he's a pilot) Devin had a BLAST and still talks about it. It snowed in Alpine on the 24th night but never made it to Marfa. Oh - and we never saw the Marfa lights either! lol!

   A friend of mine and I also ran out to Alpine on the last weekend in April. Had an absolute blast at Railroad Blues. Next time I'll remember to waer a bandana, The combination sunburn/windburn/and sandblast I got on the way out there from Houston was a lesson hard learned.

those are some great roads, and some beautiful country, it is one of my favorite places to ride O0

Been out to Big Bend twice by car before I took up riding again.  Someday, I really want to get out there on my bike.  That part of Texas was made for motorcycle riding, and it sounds like you had a great time.

The road from Presidio to Lajitas is the best ride in Texas in my opinion... O0

We call that stop on the top of the road "the incline of death".
I also like the road from Study Butte to Alpine for all out open road.
Truth is, most of the roads down there are all great.
