And just as important in contributing to the rebounding of Galveston.....

I figure both functions will be at about half throttle this year. O0

That sucks. They should just move it to Houston for this year. I don't mind riding in cold but I'm not gonna enjoy the rally. I'll be drinking hot chocolate instead of beer.
-
beer and boose will keep us just as warm brotha ;-)

That sux. Now I doubt a can go. It took an act of congress to get vacation to go and I will out of the country most of Dec working. The funny thing is I had been on the fence whether I was going (b/c of Ike)but last night I pretty much decided I was going and now this!

The wife and I went to Galveston to the Spot for lunch and to ride around town a bit.The things we saw were not good and am sure it looks much better now than a few weeks ago but they have a long way to go.The Strand was deserted except for a few people working and gave you an erie feeling as its the first time we have ever seen it this way.The side walks still coated with dried mud and debrie everywhere not just the Strand area.It was very depressing riding around and looking at all the damage to homes and businesses. They have a long way to go but hopefully they will have it together by the rally time and will be there to give them our support. The next trip we pkan to try another eatery and give them our business. you should have seen it a month ago. Lots of red tape as well.
Hope to see your support for the island in December O0

me and a buddy made it down to the island today. Had a bite to eat at the spot. Just the drive on to the island and the boat graveyard that you have to drive through to get on the island was weird enough. Went all the way down main street, trash piled everywhere, and some of it not smelling so good. Didn't see the strand, but everything else we saw was damaged in one way or another.
aside from that, places that were open, like the Spot, were packed.
