Figure most have seen this, but here's a link to a story and some pictures.  Crazy stuff, thank goodness it was President's Day and most were not at work when it happened...  I was on the phone with my insurance lady here in Midland (45 miles or so away) she was outside and felt it when it happened...

My mom is a teacher there. School was immediately let out. All the windows shook, plates fell, and pictures shifted in mom's house. I was offered a job there when I was 22, but decided that 22 years in Big Spring was enough, so I moved to Austin.. PHEW!!!

My brother lives there.  His house is 3/4 mile from the  refinery.  The door jamb on his back door was completely dislodged.  On the front of the house he has a big plate glass window.  There's a window on the inside and a 4 inch air gap and then another window on the outside.  The explosion busted the window on the inside.  He had another door in the house leading outside that also had the door jamb messed up.  A house just down the street had every ceiling fan in the house on the floor after the explosion.  His in-laws live a mile and a half from refinery and they had damage to their house also.  None of them were hurt, but my brother said it sounded like an airplane had landed on his house when it happened.  He was at home in the house when it occurred.
