Title: Your 2017 Bluebonnet Thunder Rally PSA - Let's Ride!!!
Post by: matap on March 14, 2017, 10:11:34 AM
BBT XIV is upon us with less than 45 days away.  We really appreciate all those that make this a great event and take time out of your schedules to spend it with us.  We know you could go to a hundred different places but you decided that we were cool enough to hang out with for a few days.  we had a great rally last year and expect no less this year.

With that said here are few things to keep us on our toes:

1.  Be mindful of your ride.  Please give your machine a thorough inspection prior to hitting the road.  There is nothing worse than being a couple to few hundred miles away from home and having a mechanical breakdown that could cause you inconveniences and most importantly....injury or death to yourself or others.

2.  Still touching on #1, Do not inconvenience other people's weekend because of your lack of maintenance.  The last thing we want to do is work on bikes during this event.

3.  Obey traffic laws.  I like to go fast but I don't like giving someone else my hard earned money for my stupidity.  If you have money to burn we ask you still obey traffic laws and just buy us some beer instead.

4.  During our group rides - Please ride your own ride.  Do not feel compelled to keep up with the faster riders and do not get butt hurt if a faster rider passes you up.  No one will be left behind.  We have an unofficial rule that we wait for every rider in a group before we make any turn.  This is not guaranteed...........So be sure you know where you are at and how to get back if you do fall back..........and most importantly........don't get butt hurt.  It's enough having to stay focused during these rides making sure you don't go off a cliff and having to keep up with every rider.

5.  Fuel refill - It's important to always be topped off.  You should always take the opportunity to fill up.  These roads sometimes can be closed entirely and may require back tracking.  Since our tanks are all different and our bikes consume fuel at different rates this guarantees you won't get left behind and this touches on #2.  Do not inconvenience your fellow riders.  Better safe than sorry.

6.  Have some cash on hand.  Some places do not accept any credit/debit cards and definitely won't take your check if your not from there.  There is a Wells Fargo in town and a couple random ATM machines

7.  One last thing - Please be safe on your way down and during the Rally.  Our main objective is to get you back home in one piece all while enjoying our motorcycles in some of the most scenic areas of Texas.

I'm sure there are more and feel free to contribute here.

I'm ready.............are you?
