Title: Patriot Guard Riders Mission
Post by: VTreX on October 20, 2006, 07:26:34 AM
As all of you know, we have been requested at the funeral for PFC Thomas J. Hewitt, who gave his life for the ideals of liberty in Iraq and the security of the American people. PFC Hewitt never knew I existed, yet he freely gave his life for me and the freedoms I enjoy on a daily basis. How can I ever hope to do more for him than he has already done for me? I can't! However, I can ride in his honor and share the grief of his family by taking him to his final resting place on Saturday, 21 October 2006 at 1:00 pm.

PFC Thomas Hewitt's funeral will be held at First Baptist Church in Temple, Texas at 1300 hours with his internment held immediately afterwards in Moffat cemetery in Moffat, Texas.

Staging time for this mission is from 1045-1145 hours at Horny Toad Harley Davidson in Temple, Texas located at 720 N. General Bruce Dr. in Temple, TX.

The memorial service for PFC Hewitt will be held at First Baptist Church starting at 1300 hours. We will set up a wall of American flags at the church in his honor at 1215 hours, prior to the arrival of his family at the church.

After the memorial service, we will escort PFC Hewitt and his family from Temple to Moffat cemetery on Hwy 36 in Moffat, Texas where we will again show our appreciation of his sacrifice and honor him by setting up a wall of American flags and witness the military funeral ceremony at his internment.

I ask each of you from all points in Texas to ride with us to honor PFC Thomas Hewitt as he is laid to rest. May he rest in peace! God bless America and those who defend her!

Come if you can.   O0 O0 O0

Meet me at the outlet mall; just north of 1431, between 8:45 and 9:00.

From Austin:
Take Interstate 35 North to Exit 257, Westinghouse Road. (Follow signs to center entrance.)

I'll be hanging out in the parking lot, close to the frontage road.

Anyone else?  ???

Thanks for the invite, Kenny. Good to see you and the missus again, even under those circumstances. Danny and I made it to Avery Ranch, where I split for the casa, and he went over to his daughter's house. The ride back was interesting, as I thought 317 to 190 to 195 would take us to 183, and it took us to I35 instead. Oh, well... see ya soon!  O0

I guess I should let y'all know I did finally make it home about mid-night last night, but the bike stayed in Austin.  The wife and daughters said I look to tired to ride it home.  I was pretty tired because I did not go to bed Friday till about 2AM,then up a 7 for the ride.
