What is an average price to pay
« on: March 20, 2009, 10:04:28 AM »

I am in need of replacing my rear tire on the bike. I have a new one but was wondering who was decent on price to do the work? And where the shop was at?

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Some of the Honda dealers will match internet pricing.  I got Honda Sukuki North to match and I have also had DFW Honda match before.  If they won't they will get close.

I am in North Richland Hills. So far the pricing for disassembeling and mounting the tire and reassembeling it (which was only one shop) was around $150. That did not include the tire itself which I have already purchased.

Check HDL for prices and get DFW to match it.  Then, pull the wheel, take it to cycle works and save $125.00.  Pulling the rear wheel is easy, and it will give you a chance to look at the flange bearings to see what condition they are in.  Just remember to add some moly paste on re-assembly.

Hey neighbor,
Are you taking it in or are they taking it apart and putting it back together as well?

I realize this thread is all over the map but I found a small shop here in McKinney because I was going to the darkside and many folks won't mount the ct.  I rode the bike in and had one of my boys deliver the tire.  Next day I was out the door for fifty bucks.  All in all, whether or not I could have done it myself doesn't matter.  My time and aggravation saved was well worth it.  If the price tag was 150.00 it would have given me cause to pause and reconsider.  In any case, I had it done at McKinney Powersports.  Haven't been there in a year and they have a different head guy, but at the very least, it's worth calling around.

I got my new rear tire put on at BikersBay on Saturday.
The tire was $144 plus $40 for labor.  They let me know that I should get my brake pads replaced also =  $28. No extra labor charge for the pads.

I think that is a good deal ! since I didn't need to order off the internet and wait for it.

There may be cheaper places out there BUT BikersBay has always treated me good and did a good job on my bike.

I was in the shop that charged me $60 to put on my darkside tire yesterday...they were pleased I hadn't crashed and died.  LOL  They're doing the forks on my Ninja now.  Good folks over at Southwest Superbikes, I think.
