Skooter's Ride - Benefiting the Houston SPCA 15Sept2013
« on: September 14, 2013, 12:01:04 PM »

Hey everybody, I know this is short notice. This is a good chance to ride for a good cause.....

Link.... https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/289086411233516/

After 15 years, my buddy Skooter crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. We rode many miles and I have had many memorable trips on the bike with him.....many of you probably have met him or ridden with us and shared some of those same memories.

Every year on Skooter's birthday, we would always ride somewhere special and those rides turned into a ride with our biker family to get steak and ice cream. This year, and every year to come, on Skooter's birthday, I would like to memorialize his life since he is no longe...r with us. I would also like to celebrate all of our animals - all breeds, shapes and sizes, with us or not, that have touched the lives of each of us in some way.

The Houston SPCA is the organization that brought Skooter and I together. The SPCA helps all animals in need of a good home to find that special someone to adopt them. Because the SPCA is a non-profit organization, they need our help! From dogs to cats, to rabbits and hamsters, to horses and sheep.....there are never enough homes to go around. This is where the SPCA comes in! But without this great organization, think of all the potential new best friends we will never meet and all of the animals that will never know the love we have for our fur-babies. To make a difference, we want to raise money and send all proceeds to the SPCA. Together we can make a difference in many animals AND human lives. Without you, none of this would be possible!

SPCA info
· The Houston SPCA is funded entirely by donations from caring individuals, community-minded businesses, and gift and grants from charitable foundations.
· Caring for over 100,000 animals in need each year
· When you give to The Houston SPCA, you help animals right here in the Texas Gulf Coast region
· 501(c)(3) charitable organization and your donation is tax deductible
· The Houston SPCA is a private, non-profit organization which receives no funding from the government, United Way or National Animal Welfare organizations. We rely on the generosity of the community we serve to support us and the many services we provide. With more than 82 years of service to the animals and people of Houston, Harris County, and the greater Gulf Coast region, the Houston SPCA has a long-standing record of careful stewardship of funds.

Donations are not mandatory for the ride but are appreciated. We will be holding a 50/50 drawing and a Bug Ride. All donations and proceeds from the 50/50 and Bug Ride will be presented to the Houston SPCA. Details will be available on these events before the ride. If you are donating by check, please make the check out to Houston SPCA. If you would like to donate and are unable to attend send me a message here on Facebook with your preferred contact information.

Please submit a photo of your special animal to skooter.rides@gmail.com that you would like to celebrate. We want to hang pictures of everyone's special animal, so make sure to send in or bring your fur-baby's photo for the display!

Eric, I just got on the forum after several days off.  How did your ride go?  I have four legged family members that I would have liked to add to the celebration list.  They are not running thru my house anymore, but they are constantly running thru my heart.

If you don't love what you're doing, then don't do it.
Your chances of success are directly proportional to the degree of pleasure you derive from what you do.
