Title: Trying this one more time....
Post by: Rocket67 on March 31, 2015, 12:16:43 PM
...and I have a rider going plus my wife has opted out so I don't have to shorten it.  I am heading out Friday morning and have one rider already.  Not looking to make this a big thing, just wanted to open to all of my homies on TXR.  Due to this being a new unproven route, there could be some accidental dirt roads.  I did use Google street view to check some of the less known roads and found a few roads I had to change but you never know.  I don't know what gas is available along the way so needless to say I will fill up when prudent.  This is a 2 tank ride for me but could be a little more for these thirsty VTX's.

Hit me up, this happens on Good Friday....weather permitting.

A little bit shorter route:

Meet at Tailgators on FM242 and head out from there.  350 Miles.  There was a lot of barren road on the original and although I like to ride it after a few hours I am sure it would get to be too much so I re-routed through a couple of small towns.  There is still plenty of trees and open road though.

Got this one loaded in the GPS and heading out tomorrow morning.  If anyone wants to join I will make a time, otherwise it's just when I get going.

Man, if my project wasn't done already, I'd be joing you but I have to get it finished tomorrow or at least try.  Enjoy.

It's a 3 day weekend.  Did I mention that there are 2 biker bars on the tour?  Plus, any that we discover on the way...LOL.  Did you see the bridges over water?  There are about 6 and one is about a mile long.  Lots of trees too.  I'll have you home by dinnertime.....I promise.

FYI, Tailgators is closed.  The parking lot should have plenty of room.

They would be closed at 8AM anyway.

This is starting to feel like that one time I showed up to a Meet and Greet and no one else did.  At least my mom lives close to one of my routes...maybe she will come hang out with me.   ::)

Had fun ya'll, definitely a long ride with way too many straight roads but went through lots of wooded areas and very small towns.  I would tweak it a bit if I did it again but no complaints.
