Title: Meet and Greets
Post by: j1mmyj4m on January 11, 2008, 08:46:31 AM
Is there any interest in Dallas or Ft Worth to get some help with starting up the meet and greets again?  If so, I can dig through some posts to find restaurants and map them out or collect a list from all of you.

There are quite a few of you so I hate to see the meets go stagnant unless there just isn't any interest.

Let me know so I can get a poll up to vote on the night and try to start mapping locations out.

Take advantage of this. Brock has done a great job here in the Houston area setting this up.

Start listing some places that you guys have met in the past, if anyone can recall that far back.  :P

I'll start with the obvious:

Duke's (Bedford and Addison) - good location, good food & beer

Stroker's (Harry Hines Blvd)

Another thing that will help is if you state whether you live closer to Dallas, Ft. Worth or in the middle.

I think that some weekday nights and some weekend days would be good, and move it around the mess-ro-plex a bit.  Or just say, "Twin Peaks in Lewisville!"  :)

In my opinion it's easier to try and make a meet if you know it's the same day every week.  Moving it from weekdays to the weekend randomly makes it harder to commit unless you mean something like...Tuesday every other week and Saturday for the weeks in between.

That would be up to you guys.

I'm interested. I agree a weeknight would probably be easier for everyone to commit to, but I work nights during the week from 4 till midnight.  :( :'(

Whatever the outcome of the vote, I would like to see one every now and then during the weekend. Doesn't really matter where, I ride all over the metroplex. I live an hour and a half southeast of Dallas at Cedar Creek Lake.

Thanks Brock  O0

I would definitely like to see a regular meet and greet set up like you guys down south have.  I live in downtown Dallas.  Don't care where we meet.  I will ride anywhere.  As far as suggestions I can't think of a whole lot of places off the top of my head other than the Hard 8 BBQ in Coppell.  I do like Reno's and the Icehouse quite a bit, but I have always had trouble trying to get anyone from the board to go to either one.

Dukes in addison has lots of room outside to geather.  And the hard8 in coppell has lots of M/C parking.  Need to be sure to not conflect with other groups meetings.
Never been to the (-)(-) in Lewisville but heard the attraction will cause eye strain.

Sometimes some of the area Hooters have bike nights also with half price wings if you ride in on a bike.

That's actually exactly what I meant.  Like 2 MNG's a month.  The 2nd week of the month is wed night and the 3rd week of the month is Sat afternoon... or whatever.

Below is an example of how many M&G locations Houston has.  A handful are fine if that's cool with everyone, but more locations give people who are far out a chance to show up in different parts of the city.

Don't forget Winghouse (Bedford/Arlington)
BuffaloWings in Grand Prairie is biker friendly I-20/Great South West
Hooters off Little Road/I-20 in Arlington
Oasis at Joe Pool Lake is very biker friendly

Just a few places not on the Northside of D/FW

and once again Darwin as some pennies to toss into the Pot...

DFW is Bloody Huge... try a meet and great at two locations a week different days... i noticed that the leaders where Sat and Sun... soooooo....

Do one, more on the east side of DFW one day...

and the other, more on the West side of DFW... that way people that live a bit farther out that want to attend can without making it an all day Affair...

again just some Pennies for Thought...

The guy that owns Apache Chopper (Weatherford) has now bought a piece of land on the Brazos River and moved the bike shop there, (I-20 @ Gilbert Pit Exit) By this spring there will be a large party area down by the river with a bandstand, BBQ, beer...ect....(very close to rt 4, one of my favorite riding routes),will let you guys know when it gets up and running...should be pretty cool O0 ;D ;D

There are now 30 locations with 11 of them being Hooters.  There are more Hooter locations, but I figure you're probably covered.

It won't show up if photobucket is blocked at your work.

I'm interested - the problem is finding the time.  Weekends would be much easier.  The weekdays - forget it.  My daughter has be tied up with school and swim practice.

I've been to the ones at Strokers, one at (.) (.) twin peaks as Snake puts it and another at Sonic in Wylie but not a lot of Xer's showed there.

I would deffinatly be in for Sat or Sun MNG. Weekdays are out for me. I like the idea of keeping the day the same and shifting the location each week. We can keep it going around the metroplex so all can attend at some point. For the folks that don't mind going long distances this will never effect. For the ones that would rather ride closer to the garage you know the MNG will come your way soon.

Are you KIDDING?  The food is a 1?  Seriously?  But you like Hooters?  Seriously?  I'm amazed, I've never met a single person ever who thought Hooters was better food than Twin Peaks.  I won't be able to say that anymore, I guess.

Here's the story:

My girlfriend and I went to the TP in Mesquite last spring and the food made her sick (I wasn't feeling that great after either), so I've never been back since.  I used to not like Hooter's either.  That was until I moved to Texas and discovered that you could get the wings "naked" w/o all that breading.

Morgan, I'll make you a deal.  If we have a M&G at Twin Peaks I'll give the food a second chance. O0

I'd be happy about it if was a stockholder.  :)  I do know how a bad experience can sour someone from a place.  My wife seems to get sick every other time we eat at a restaurant...but she's always suggesting we go out to eat...  But I digress.  LOL  For meet and greets...well, the drinks are cold, which is more than enough most of the time.
