You guys gettin' ready to duck?
« on: August 29, 2008, 03:30:25 PM »

I've got an uneasy feeling about Gustav. I think he's gonna be worse than Rita was. I live in Grand Prairie by Dallas, but have a house in Bridge City. What say ye? Y'all think it might be bad? If so, get the hell out.

That's what everybody who went up around Toledo Bend thought with Rita.  :o It wasn't far enough! After looking at the latest tracks, I might have to rethink my evacuation route. It looks like heading west might be better than due north. O0 Oh by the way, YES I am getting the hell out of here. O0

Well, if it's not bad I have no reason to leave. And if it is bad, I 'll be staying here working.

We are already in Austin.  Left this afternoon.  Randy, and others headed west.  Avoid I-10, especially at the San Jac. River bridge between Baytown & Houston.  They are doing construction work there (great plan, huh?) and it took us over an hour just to get 3 miles!  We will stay here and keep tuned until we know it is wise to return.

Where is Bear Creek?

I'll be laying low in Lumberton. Bought two new chains for the saw yesterday. Gonna check out the generator today and batten down the hatches. May even cut down a neighbors tree and let him sue me later. It's dieing/dead AND WILL REACH MY HOUSE. I wish I had sent the letter like my insurance company suggested after Rita which started the death of it. Different owner now.  :-\  How does that go, Easier to ask foegiveness than to get permission.  ;)

There will be a lot of good ole boys like myself that will hunker down and start clearing roads ( so the authorities can drive around and tell us we should leave ) as soon as the blow settles down.

I will gladly check on peoples property afterwards (in this area, if and when I can get to it)  if you want to pm, or email me your address. I'm sure I will loose power and internet, probably cell phone as well. But I will do what I can when able.  O0 I'll shut up now  ;D

I don't care what other people think. They don't do it very often!
Of Course it's dirty. It's hard to clean when the tires keep moving.
