Title: Gas Monkey to Strokers Ride September 19
Post by: Rocket67 on August 20, 2015, 12:42:13 PM
I have a few guys riding with me to Gas Monkey Garage and Gas Monkey Grill before heading to Strokers to spend the remainder of the day/evening.  Strokers has a discount rate at LaQuinta and has offered to lock our bikes up at their place overnight.  So, all the drinky you want and UBER (or cab) back to the hotel.

The route is not determined just yet but looks like it will be West of I45 from Houston to Dallas.

The invite is open to anyone.  So far I think we have 5 bikes.

Well, that was a heck of a fun ride.  563 miles round trip and went everywhere we planned on going.  The bonus was that not only did we get to meet Rick Fairless but we got an in-depth tour of Strokers all the way down to the way back room where they machine and fit parts that will eventually become aftermarket for Victory and Indian motorcycles.  We ended up not leaving our bikes at Strokers since no one really drank much (good thing) and the hotel let us park 6 bikes under the porte-cochère by the front door.  The area wasn't really a bad area either...maybe for Dallas but not what I would consider bad.

To add to this post...I have to say that Rick was an incredibly gracious host.  He took us through that place and really spent time talking to us and telling stories.  It seemed like he had nothing else to to the whole time and after he just hung around and let us get pics with him and stuff.  A very class act.

Thanks for the photos!!
The times I have met him he always been a down
to earth good ole boy. He knows the only reason he does
what he does is because of the people!

I've been there many times and seen Rick and his Mom before she passed. Cool guy but I really don't like his style of bike that he builds. Hear he's good to deal with on a Victory.
