I just got home tonight and received a letter in the mail from the Beachcomber Inn stating they have cancelled my reservation.  I can respond back by 10/15/06 to renew my reservation, but the cost is now $129.00 for Friday and Saturday nights!!!

WHAT?

Has anyone else that made reservations there received this letter?  The General Manager is not there tonight, so I'll be calling her in the morning.  This is unreal!

I have no freakin' idea, but she'll be getting an earful in the morning.  I hope she sleeps well tonight, because tomorrow night's a different story!!!!

The letter states that they had a "computer error"...doesn't anyone know that computers don't make errors...people make errors.

I wonder if somehow we can get them for price gauging!

We have an original post date and everything here as evidence!!!

Oh there was an error allright. You made you reservation before they realized that was the weekend of the rally and they could gouge you.

Didn't the same thing happen to Marigold at Fredricksburg this year?

What I find amazing is that they still have your name and address and even the dates you had, with the "computer error".

I went back to their website, and tried putting in the dates so I could see what they are charging online, but the dates come up as "unavailable".  When I checked before, the rates you had posted on here were on their website.  I should have printed it out at the time.  The other thing was that I never got a confirmation number...that should've been my clue.

I'll post my results of the "phone call"...

Go back and look at some of the prior post. I thing on website they were charging more than if you called a made a reservation!

Well, I just got off the phone with the GM, and the lowest she would go is $89/night.  I told her I would be looking into filing a complaint with the BBB, but it didn't seem to phase her at all.  She was cordial, though, and explained that she has never had a weekend rate as cheap as what the computer made the reservation for.

I told her $89/night is still pretty expensive.  I never will understand the hotel business!!

After reading this, checked our stats, on July 7th, $129.95 was quoted to us, we have reservations for the 3rd and 4th.....I heard about cheaper rates earlier on, but didn't follow up..
