Got my bike Dyno'd!!!!
« on: June 08, 2006, 04:07:07 PM »

While I was at ROT last weekend I got lucky and happened upon a guy that had a trailor that had a dyno on it. I got the 1800R dyno'd (wasn't cheap...cost 300 bucks) but I can really notice the difference. I am now running almost 90HP to the rear tire!!!!  :) :) :D :D :) :) I almost pooped my britches during the whole dyno, which took around 30 minutes. It drew a crowd tho (approx. 20 other bikers) listening to those V&H Bigshots and that 1800 engine PURRR!!! It sounded AWESOME!!!!

I don't know anything about Dynos other than the first time I heard one ,my first thought was, why would anyone do that to thier bike. I thought they were trying to blow it up.
I am going to add a PCIII and thought about getting the bike dynoed.

How did you determine that the guy screwed Davids bike up and how is it screwed up. I can buy a lot of gas with $300.

why would a dyno cost 3 bills, and just doing a dyno run wont change the bike, what did he do to your bike? that may answer my first question.

What was the HP before?  On my bike it was 91HP before and 95 after it was adjusted. The torque went from 101 to 107.  Did you get a printout or anything?

Yes, I have a USB PCIII Power commander....and yes the horsepower and torque went up...and now I have the custom MAP due to the Dyno. There is definately a noticable difference in throttle response, speed, and hopefully gas consumption. Overall, I am very pleased with the Dyno, but I wouldn't want to do it often, just for the fact that it has to be very strenuous on your bike. Kebs, my HP and torque are almost identical to yours and yes I got the printouts.

One thing you have to consider....On a Dyno, your bike is standing still, and spinning a wheel. On the street you're moving, and the sound is behind you. It sound like a jet on the Dyno, cause you're probably standing beside/behind the pipes. It's the same strain on the engine, it's just amplified.

$80 get's you one run and a dyno chart, $300 get's you a custom tuned bike with multiple pulls on the dyno and an increase in HP and Torque.
