Went down today!
« on: August 30, 2006, 06:42:48 PM »

I was on my way from my office to meet my wife for lunch.  This dumb Cranberries driving a 16 wheeler pulled out of a Kroger parking lot.  He didn't even slow down.  Some how I was able to lay it down, thank God, before I went into and under the trailer. (My guarding angle most have been there)
I went down on the low side, and then the X went off ahead of me.  I have road rash on both sides, not sure how, most have rolled over, and bruised and starined in several places.  Xrays did not show any bones broke... My helmet was pretty torn up on the left side, goggles scraped, road rash where my gloves tore on both hands, both knees, shoulder and hip.  It tore the laces out of my boots but only had a strained ankle.
It goes to show that riding gear saves you.  The Cranberries hole driver said, sorry, I ride too, I just looked over the top of you, I would have punched him if I had been able.
Won't know the tally on the X for a day or 2.
They gave me some good drugs, so it's time to try them.

Nice job of falling off the bike at the bottom of the slide and letting it go. You apparently kept your head in it the whole time.

Glad it's not a lot worse.

You said that your helmet was scraped up on the left side. What kind of helmet do you wear?

Glad your ok and not any worse bike  can always be repaired or replaced. It sounds like you did the right thing. The last few weeks have noticed people seem to not pay attention even more than they used to.I have seen at least 6 people totally blast through red lights at intersections.Again glad your not any worse off than you are.

Everybody has said it well, but I'll say, "You got skills, Bob".  O0 O0 O0
Way to keep your head straight. Glad too hear you had some protection. It's been so hot, and I've back-slid and not worn my mesh jacket all the time. Thanks for the "attitude adjustment".
Take care of yourself, and get back on the road soon.

Sorry to hear that, glad you made it through okay. I highly reccomend soaking in a hot bath with epsom salts the sooner the better. I have my own special pain bath salts I make if you want some let me know and I bring you some. Is Jan Freaked out? The good news is along as you didn't break any thing you should feel better in about 2 weeks.

Thanks God for Guardian Angels!
