got home last night from our Big Bend trip. Great area and River Road was a blast.  In all clocked just over 1300 VTX miles since Friday morning.  I highly recommend the Highland Inn if you are staying a night in Alpine - $60 with tax, decent clean room and the staff was very bike friendly, with a nice little bar on the property.
:congrats: Yesss! That's what I wanted to hear.  :good: Glad your trip was a success.  :c  Any pictures?

I'm leaving 12 days later than planned, but I'm going! Bike's getting a new tire put on tomorrow, got a handfull of spark plugs, brakes, etc., to install and I'm heading out Thursday morning for Alpine. 525 miles there, 4 days of riding and 525 miles back. Reservations at the Antelope Lodge, El Dorado Hotel and the Chisos Mountain Mining Co. Hotel. Anybody want to go?  :bikerider: :bikerider: :bikerider: :c :bikerider: :bikerider: :bikerider: :c :bikerider: :bikerider: :bikerider: :c :bikerider: :bikerider: :bikerider: :c

What route are you taking?  If you take hwy 90, make sure you gas up in Del Rio.  It was about 130 miles in between gas stations...  Guy on our trip was on a Shadow and hit his reserve at 105   :ohwow:

Got up in Terlingua yesterday and it was COLD. Had to ride back to Alpine and it just got colder. 27 degrees this morning! Been on the road for six days so I'm going to relax and ride the Davis mountains when it warms up tomorrow.

We've got enough leather to do a Lonesome Dove reunion. And, ...a bottle of antifreeze from the candy store to hold us over 'till it warms up. We ride again tomorrow. :-)

Settled in Big Lake tonight. Weather is good again, but it looks like I'm racing the rain home. Ain't scared. It's been a great ride. I got pics out the a$$, and a plan to make it home dry. Wish me luck. ... :-)

The rain got here before I got home. Now I'm in Malone at the Frogbranch Saloon. Drinking beer and waiting for the sun to come out.

11 days, a little over 2,100 miles, and we rolled in tonight. I'm glad that I took a lot of time for this ride. :good:

Now I've got two new tires to put on, (thanks Hooter), and lots of pics to download and re-size for posting.

Thanks for all of the advise guys. The trip was great.  :c :c :c :c :c :c

That is a great movie!   I hear that there will be blood and no country for old men were also filmed in the area.

No Country was filmed around Sanderson.

Jason...by truck it takes me about 9 hrs. to make El Paso on I-10.  I guess it would depend on whether you are riding or smelling the roses.
Typically, it takes me 4hrs. to get to Ft. Stockton by car.  So, yes it is, you can do it.  I made it from Amarillo to Denver in 7 hrs. and that was
440 miles.  But if traveling down Hwy. 90 make sure you have your gas lined-up, because past Del Rio the stations are few and far between.  :bikerider:
