New Tires - Need Installation
« on: February 20, 2008, 02:15:55 PM »

It's time to get new tires for my baby.   Going with White-walls
(whole retro thing).  Maxim in Allen wants $355 installed.  I'm
wondering if I bought the tires online and searched for another
place to install if it wouldn't be cheaper...  any suggestions.

Buy them online and check out Metric Tech in McKinney for the install.  Dean (the owner) will hook you up!  He helped me a lot with these type things (tire & bearing races install) when I was working on my bike.

Man for that price I think Harbor freight has a tire mounting machine you could buy for $80 and make your money back.
Could even help fellow X'ers out
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=42927 for 49.99 and needs to be used with
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=34542 for 29.99

or
Try to find a local mom and pop shop. I got mine mounted for $10 each and he threw in new chrome valve stems
also bought balancing beads from him too
