I need to test seats. :)
« on: August 29, 2010, 09:57:29 PM »

I'm in Southlake and I'm looking to buy a new two-up seat set for the 1800.  I've got it narrowed down to the ultimate big-boy or the russell day-long.  They're both awfully expensive to be buying the wrong one.  And even though they both have return policies, I'd rather not have to pay for shipping twice if I don't have to.  So is anyone that has one of these or anything else you think compares, and doesn't mind my wife and I sitting on it, getting together anywhere any time soon?  I'll drag my wife pretty much anywhere at this point if I can get there after work, so just let me know.

Ultimate X is the way to go. Never heard of the Russell day-long.

Looked up that Russell Day-long -- it looks really comfortable, but like others never heard of it.  ???

Yeah, after reading all the reviews I could find, I think the day-long may actually be more comfortable, but it's awfully ugly.  Also, it's built on your original pan and they require 2 retries before you can return it, so I'm out a ride while I'm waiting for it, and I'm out quite a bit more shipping if it isn't right the first time.  So my current plan is to get the ultimate x and head to Jacksonville and back on a Saturday.  That will give me 300 miles.  Depending on when their 14 day return policy starts and ends, I may be able to get a second saturday ride in the next week if it doesn't feel as comfortable as I like, figuring that maybe the first run was needed to break it in.  If it still doesn't work, then I'll try the day-long.  It would just make me feel better about laying out the money if my wife and I could sit on one first.  And someone may have something they love that is cheaper that I haven't thought of yet.

day long is the top of the heap when it comes to custom moding your stock eat.  Iron butt, and long distance riders do nothing but sing their praises.

It is sweet too! I have the Ultimate, it was a bit more reasonably priced.

I've never heard of anyone who's butt is dissatisfied with a Russell Day Long.  But they're ugly as a..well..as a butt.  LOL

The Ultimate, while ugly, isn't AS ugly as the Russell.  It also might not be QUITE as comfortable.

It's a trade off.

Hope you got the riders back rest with the Ultimate if that's what you got.
