Restaurant info needed, Palestine area
« on: November 28, 2008, 10:00:27 PM »

We are looking for a restaurant in the general Palestine area that has good food and service, and preferably one that could hold about 60 or so of our biggest eaters. I saw online there are some nice mexican restaurants and a nice Italian place there. Chain restaurants will be considered, I know there is a Ryans and a Herschels, but I am really kinda' looking for a one off type restaurant, preferally one that serves or will let you pack your own drink in. Please give me input on any restaurant you have eaten at in that area, good or bad. Biker friendly, or not? Any good restaurant in about a thirty- forty mile radius from Palestine will be fine. Post up please. I'm getting hungry just waiting for an answer! ;D ;D

Snake,

I have eaten at Giovannis Restorante Italiano on the advice of a friend.  The food was great and the service was very good.  This was on a Friday evening and it was crowded.  I do not remember if they had a room for big parties but I would thing they did.  There are a few good reviews at: http://national.citysearch.com/review/34354136/568664

I hope this helps.

Check out  Lafitte's in Palestine.

I've been there also. I was going to schedule a stop there whenever I manage to get my "Around the World" ride together. Worth looking into.  O0

To work off the meal there's a little ride out of Palestine, (315), that's 40 miles of twisties and sweepers up the hill, a fun little ride called "Roller Coaster Road", then 40 miles back down the hill. Really good stuff.  O0

I heard that Lafitte's is out of business.   Hershall's holds a bike night there every Friday night you can find information at http://www.texascruisers.com/. Post your questions on the Texas Cruisers board many people there are from the Palestine area and would be happy to help you out.
