Pioneer RV Resort - Status
« on: May 31, 2015, 08:33:13 PM »

I spent Saturday up in the Bandera, Texas checking out some flood damage.  There are still a few low water crossings that have water on them.  I also went by and saw our friends at Pioneer RV Resort.  They got hit pretty hard! 1.5 feet of water in the office and in the Rec. hall.  Here are a few pics for reference.  They have to rebuild all of the electrical boxes on the bottom deck and most on the upper deck.  They have the upper deck back up and running but the lower deck is still closed.

In this picture I am standing on the lower deck where the tent campers and most of us camped.  The water was over the bridge and washed most of the trees over.

My hunting lease is outside of Johnson City, near Perdenales state park.

Miller creek rose close to, if not over 30' and flooded the area where my RV was parked.
It was rising water and not flowing water.
Water line looks to be about 1/2 way up the tire.

I was fortunate in that only my pallet porch floated away.

I left San Antonio Monday morning after the flood and couldn't get to the lease because the FM leading to the state park was washed out.

Locals said it was the worst flood they've seen in 30 years.

It was pretty wild.  Ruthy and I were in the middle of it all while it was going down.  While it wasn't scary to be evacuated because they told us with plenty of time is something to talk about.
