Title: From DP (Houston) to BBT
Post by: Lucky on April 03, 2009, 01:39:26 PM
Ok, those Hillsboro riders are getting all organized and ready to roll...I think it is time the DP (Houston) gang got some organization going.  I know that there is a group of us from DP that are heading out Thurs 4/23 morning: Brock/Jenn, Joey/Carla, Bryce, Andrew, and Wayne/Connie.

So here are a few suggestions I offer for us:
1) If anyone from the west side of town is leaving Thurs morn then we we all meet up at the Richmond Coffee Station Cafe and get some breakfast and then just head west on I-10 thru San Antonio.  Any SA riders can join up with us if they would like at that point.
OR
2) We can link up with the north Houston riders and get some breakfast over in the 290/Beltway 8 area of town and then head out 290 thru Austin.  Any Austin riders can join up with us if they would like at that point.
OR
3) The DP gang is too demented and perverted to ride with others and we just get some breakfast at Ken's in DP on Center or Kelley's in Pasadena on Spencer and then see if anyone can find us as we weave our way to the BBT.

Any way we do it, I foresee us heading out around 9am, stopping for breakfast, taking about 5 hours (w/out lunch stop) or about 6 hours (w/lunch stop) to get to the BBT around 4pm or so.   Let me know if any of this works for you guys.

Connie,

I think this is a good idea and I will be happy to join you.  I would suggest the following route:

I-10 West to US-71 in Columbus
North on 71 to 290 in South Austin
West on 290 to Fredericksburg

There are plenty of places for breakfast on I-10.  I have found this the most direct route to Fredericksburg.

Just my $.02

David

Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Lookin' for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space

I like smoke and lightning
Heavy metal thunder
Racin' with the wind
And the feelin' that I'm under
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space

Like a true nature's child
We were born, born to be wild
We can climb so high
I never wanna die

Born to be wild
Born to be wild    ;D ;D

Oh yea I'm ready  ;)

It is Thursday 4/23.  Figured since it was in the original post of this thread it wasn't necessary again.  But Thanks Kenny for reminding me to be more thorough.

Connie,
Make your stop in Ellinger, Tx...about 12-15 mins. East of La Grange.  Stop at Hruska's  on the right (Chevron) they have good burgers, sandwiches  :lunch: pre-made that morning, other sandwiches & awesome Kolaches of any flavor.  Probably have only 3 small tables inside, I think they may have a few picnic tables in back...they did before they expanded the back parking lot.

You guys will go past my High School that I teach and coach at just before the airport (ABIA) about 3 miles out...Del Valle HS.  I will not arrive until late Friday or early (wake-up the hangover kids) Saturday morning.
Ride Safe!  :bikerider:

Thanks for the lead on a good eating place.  It is a too close for our Thursday trip to BBT, but is exactly the right distance for coming home on Sunday...I will put my vote in to stop there Sunday for lunch.

I'll meet you at the Cracker Barrel.  It's a little out of the way since I live off 290, but worth it to ride with the group. :bikerider: :bikerider:
