Title: Where to ride AFTER BBT
Post by: seefriedm on April 27, 2013, 04:40:34 AM
Guys,
I'm in a quandrry and would like some feedback.....So I took off of work Mon/Tues and might be out Wensday also after the rally to go down towrds South Padre - Corpus area to ride some more or I might go towards Freeport and ride the ocean wall between there and Galvaston. But with the BlueBonnets out I might stay in the Fredricksburg area and ride all of the raods around that area. Not sure yet and I haven't made any hotel reservations yet so I'm open. I'd apprecaite any and all sugestions, I've been here since 2006 and haven't really seen much of Texas outside of Dallas.

Mark

I'd stay on the Balcones Escarpment. Lots and lots of roads to get lost on.

Ride down to Langtry and visit Judge Roy Bean's Saloon and courthouse. Fort McKeveritt around Menard. Alamo Village near Brackettville where the movie "The Alamo" with John Wayne was filmed. That's a nice road to ride as well.If you go east visit the Presidio and Bahia in Goliad. The site of the Fannin massacre. As you can tell, I like historical sites. The road from Freeport to Galveston is ok but not very far and then your in Galveston Houston metro area, better left for the LSR in November.

#1 is a must while you are in F-berg # 2 is a major HWY leading through Austin to Houston, I will ride it to get to the rally, not fun. Haven't riden #3 past Llano but south to Bandera is very good,I like Bandera , go to the 11th St. Cowboy Bar.Live music on weekends. #4 is a nice country road, while in the area, go by the steakhouse in Snook Tx. for some chicken fried steak. #5 and #6 also major hwys. Hopefully some of the wildflowers will still be in bloom.

I just looked at the weather and their saying this Thursday is suppossed to have a high of 56. I'll be keeping an eye out for sure. I was just invited to the Indian Rally @ Indian Point in MO the following week 8-16th. So if the weather turns bad I at least have an alternitive to ride in South Texas. Buddy said there's a bunk  :couch: with my name on it if I roll that way... :c never been there either  :good:
