I ride on base every once in a while going to Commisary/PX/BX(Fort Sam/Randolph/Lackland) and they have not asked for the MSF course completion. I believe you only have to show it if you intend to register you bike for the base. I am going by Fort Sam/BAMC today, will try to find out what we need or if one or a couple of folks could escort everyone else into the hospital area. 

Ok,talked to a fella at work the is an officer with the Marine riding club who organizers rides to BAMC quite often to visit with fellow marines and I talked to security at BAMC also. They require that you wear the following: Helmet,long sleeve shirt or jacket,eye protection,boots(3/4 to full),full finger gloves,motorcycle license,up to date registration,and insurance card. They did mention to wear a bright colored shirt.

Well first off...glad you are relatively ok and thank you for your service to our country.

I am in San Antonio and would love to be part of any kind of get together to show my appreciation for the sacrifice our men and women of the services make each day.

I did happen to visit the Ft Sam Houston web page and found the following.
I think BAMC follows the same rules as Ft Sam Houston regarding motorcycle regulations:

Here's what I know about hood, Ft Sam Houston could be different.  You must have the following when riding on post: full fingered leather gloves, over the ankle leather boots, long sleeved shirt, long pants, DOT approved helmet with visor, or shatter resistant glasses, refelctive vest or belt (12 square inches of reflective material), proof of insurance, registration, motorcycle liscense and if bike is registered on post, MSF course completion card.  Again, this is Ft Hood, not Ft Sam, not sure if it is different.

I propose that PiPiDiPo check in here, and name a date/time he would like a visit. We'll throw something together for that, and if you can make it, c'mon up/down/over. This will probably need a poll thread, so we can get an idea on the headcount, but let's see what PiPiDiPo has to say first. Sound good?

 Glad your doing ok and thank you and all the vets for what you have done and are doing.Here is to a speedy recovery.
  I would be interested in making the trip as well if working might have to come down with a weekend virus if anyone from the Houston/Clear Lake area want to ride over.

Hey everyone, i am very happy that so many want to ride down to visit. I cant wait.  and you know what i was able to ride my bike about a mile to the gas station to get the state inspection.  it took a little bit for me to pull the clutch and keep my foot from shifting faster than what my arm wanted to allow to pull the handle.  but i think i could be ok for a good ride near the end of the month.  if anyone has any ideas on where to ride please tell.  i assume it is easier for everyone to come down on a weekend.  i am pretty much available whenever , just want to wait till the end of the month to give myself some more healing time.  if there is a day that the majority agrees on, ill be good to go. take care!!

Hey, you know the group is like a big family. Which means no one ever agrees, and the bickering is non-stop! Wait!!! Is that just my family? 

Why don't we make this easy, and YOU name the date and time? We have all seen the c-f**k that can happen when trying to set a date (BBT 3), and how some people are happy, others not. You name the date/time that fits your needs and wants, and those that can make it do, those that can't nevertheless send their respect and well wishes. And RD buys me lunch! Sound like a plan?
