My wife drags me to these estate sales every weekend and from time to time we find a cool kitchen item, piece of furniture or original oil painting but this weekend was way better. I found a like-new condition Harley-Davidson Men's FXRG Modular Helmet with Retractable Sun Shield for $100!!
I also got a second modular helmet for $47 and it's really nice, my wife wanted that one.
-
Here is what hers looks like. Not bad for $47.

The Harley logo alone is $100. :t

Congratulations

Damn. That is a deal.

Yep. The FXRG is made by HJC and branded as the "RPHA-Max" and the HD Stock II helmet is the "HJC CL Max II", both have excellent reviews so I am pretty stoked about this find. I still have my GMax GM54s as well which isn't too bad itself. I will be selling the Bell Pit Boss and another half helmet I have, I don't plan on riding any more with those anyway so don't need them as backup. That will get me down to 4 total helmets.
-
Just keep'em. I have 10 helmets and whatever strikes my mood at the time determines which I wear. I don't have any backup helmets....just helmets I feel or don't feel like wearing. Besides, no one wants to buy your used sweaty head Texas helmet. :stickpoke:

Ha ha ....I was thinking the same thing.
-
I see helmets all day long on craigslist but here in Texas I wouldn't ever consider one unless I was using it as an emergency flower pot. ???
-
Flowerpot?
Careful Matap, you told me to warn you whenever "that" side of you is showing through again. ;D ;D :redcard:

He said flower pot, Snake, not flowering pot. :stickpoke:

Cool find. Just remember...they don't call them Hundred Dollar for nothing. ;D
-
The review is in, that helmet is hot...the sweaty kind. I think it has more to do with my windshield and fairing blocking most of the wind though. It's a great looking helmet, I think I will be able to share time with my GMAX, really not a ton of difference.

I only wear full face helmets in the winter and even then it's only on those really really cold days. Never have worn a full face in any kind of heat. gives me a headache.
-
I ride with a full-face exclusively, but I almost always have the face shield open for ventilation. If I'm getting "sandblasted" or rained on, the face shield is down.
-
I wear a full face modular helmet. I also open the face shield if it is warm . Works great when it's cold. in an accident, the rider hits face first about 60% of the time. Don't want asphalt plastic surgery.
-
Ditto on the last 2 posts, I open the face just a bit and at slow speed it's all the way open. I have a couple of half helmets but don't like getting pelted in the face by random stuff including large bugs, sand, small bugs and rocks. Plus, if I do go down I want as much protection I can get. I also happen to think it looks much better than a mushroom head. O0

:agree: I don't have the prettiest face in the world but after a face plant, it would look even worse. And then I would start scaring the girls away. :-* :-*

People warn you all the time about modular helmets which I wear, but I can confirm they will hold together long enough to save your noggin and protect the face. I got a small chip out of one tooth in a wreck I had 3+ years ago and that modular piece was nearly ripped off. Unconscious for 3 days but it saved by bacon. I really don't understand those that don't wear SOMETHING.
-
I wear a full face modular helmet year round....if the concrete and I decide we want to kiss, I want full protection to try and keep as much pretty as I can.
I agree the full faced helmets are hot as Hades in the summer. I have to keep my visor cracked open to prevent suffocation.
-
The HD Stock II is for sale. My wife apparently does not like full face helmets. She put it on once and took it back off never to wear it again. Its like new, size medium. Reasonable offers accepted. It's $180 new and that includes tje Harley logo.
-
Hmmmm, how much for it without the HD logo??? ;D ;D

I have it listed on Craigslist for $110 but would take less. I'll throw the logo in for free, you can resell it and get some of your money back.
