going to the sun road
« on: November 04, 2008, 08:46:44 PM »

Has anyone been there? What time of year would be best. We were thinking of last week in June or early July. Have 2 weeks to kill and haven't been on the road for a couple of years.

you come into this world with nothing and you leave this world with nothing so while your here you should own something really cool

I have in mid July. I is the BEST 50 miles I have ever riden! When I go back I will ride east to west, turn around and ride it the other way. What you should plan on is going to the COLORADICAL first July 4th weekend and then going north. I might tag along...

Went to the Colorado think in 04 and drove through gods country at 120 miles an hour, no stopping for pictures  and a short break for lunch. We can grind the pegs in central texas but would like to take pictrues at every rest stop.We went to Durango in 05 and had a lot more fun. We dont like large groups was thinking of inviting Dave forevertexan but he dosen't seem to ride long distance
even with his mustang seat. We will take a lot of pictures and post them.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally wornout, shouting..."What a Ride!"

Glacier National Park is one of the best places I've ever been too.  They have valley's, waterfalls, mountains, streams, and everything else in between crammed into a 45 mile park.

After you come out on the west end, you might as well head up to Canada just to say you've been there.  It's not much further.  http://www.nps.gov/archive/glac/images/bigmap.gif

Here's a taste of it in pictures.

45 miles are driveable.  If I recall there might be smaller sections of the park, but I remember being told that it would take 3+ hours to go 45 miles through the main portion.  It takes so long because you're continually stopping to take pictures. 8)
