changing coolant
« on: May 08, 2006, 06:21:53 AM »

did the coolant change on sat with Jasons help. I think we found an easy way to empty the coolant tank without taking it off the bike.
first let me say one thing if you are going to do this yourself..."dont forget the drain plug"

I think i lost a 1/2 quart of coolant before i thought to myself "Hmmm, when you pour this stuff in, it sounds just like water hitting concrete"
and if i had a pic of removing the drain plug, it would be priceless, never heard Jason laugh so hard in the whole time i have know him. all i can say is dont sit directly in front of the drain plug when you remove it. it shoots out about three feet.
now to empty the tank, we found this works great.

its not a hard job, but yes, you do have to remove the fuel tank. I would allow yourself an hour total time to replace the coolant.

Might as well bleed the clutch while you have the left side cover off.
