Take a look at the upper bushing on your rear shock, if not lined up you need to replace the bushings, usually shows up in the twistier roads. Just a little play in the corners, after replacing you will notice a big difference.

I replace on my 1300 and could not believe the difference.

Same bushings for both 1300 AND 1800

This is what it looks like when you want to replace the bushings.

Shows cracked Bushings.
This is what it should look like.

Wasn't there a guy somewhere that was making these out of some kind of nylon so they would last longer?  Honda should have known better that a heavy bike like the 1300's & 1800's would cut right thru those bushings.  On a side note they aren't that big of a deal and definitely not expensive.

McMaster-Carr (Nylon bearings) pn = 6389K344

4 under 5 bucks. You never really notice you have a problem until you change them, then you notice how much better it is in the twistiest. Holds the road much better.

Have you changed them out already? The one and only time(so far) that I met any members was at a meet and greet. First thing everyone did was take a look at my bike then tell me I needed to change out the rear bushing.

You might want to start a new thread for this question assuming that it is a question.

This may be a stupid question, but, hey, I'm a newbie. Are the bushings that need replacing only on the top shock mount?

From what I can make out from your signature pic,  your bike has the stock Honda shocks and the McMaster Carr part number that Gumbo referred to would be what you want. BTW I don't think anyone here would ever consider any question as stupid.  Lots of helpful folks.

Thanks Capt for your support. The shocks are stock and probably don't need bushings yet but I ordered them and will install them anyway. You guys are great!!

My VTX only had 4200 miles on it and the bushings were egg shaped.
