Custom exhaust pipes
« on: August 26, 2012, 01:06:11 AM »

Hello all. Been awhile since I've checked out the forums but my addiction kicked in and here I am again, back reading posts till all hours of the night and making my list of "must haves".

Have a question, and hoping someone can guide me. I am looking to have a set of custom exhaust pipes done up for my 1300C. Reason being, I haven't been able to find a commercially available set that has a 2-into-1 style (ex: HK Sideburner) and ends short of the passenger seat (I want to make some hard bags and want the exhaust out of the way)

Does anyone know where I can get a set of good quality custom pipes made? Or, can anyone point me to a readily available set that I am just too simple to find?

Thanks in advance!!  :c

For example... Lone_Wolfe has exactly the kind of pipes I am looking for.

Only thing about pipes like his it might get your bag too hot because
the heat from it is not past the bag. Just a thought.
I have seen a set HK sideburners for sale for the 1300 at a good price on
Craigs list.

HK makes this one for the 1300.

 Roadhouse makes these.

You can just do a search of VTX1300 exhausts Images and find a bunch!
Good luck and keep in touch with updates on your build.  :D

Yea, I was a little concerned about the heat too. My plan was to have a rather aggressive turnout at the end of the pipe and possibly a double wall with some insulation or just a good heat shield. Kinda why I was thinking of going the custom build route as I'm thinking most side cut short pipes won't be intended for use with saddle bags.

Thanks for the links and advice. I will continue my search and certainly keep y'all updated with any progress.

What size diameter you looking for? 1.25, 1.50"?  additionally you could get them chrome plated on the outside then ceramic coated on the inside and that will cut down much heat.

Honestly, I hadn't thought about size. I suppose it would depend on the design and which performs/sounds better. Not looking to deafen my passenger but don't want to sound like a 125 scooter either.

I like the idea of the ceramic/chrome combo.

I looked at Hacker pipes, but I think they might be too loud from what I have read.
