DESMOG

I keep reading about how alot of you have done the desmog as part of your upgrades/changes and would like to see if anyone could provide specifics or a thread on these modifications.
Thanks,

This link will lead you through the process. I printed it out and had no problems. You can get everything at autozone except for the block off plates, can get them here: http://hondadirectlineusa.com/vtx/product.asp?pid=4347&ID=68262530
One of the best vtx sites on the web.

Good Luck,

Ok, here I go. Swimming upstream again.

I have done the desmog and if you are expecting a miraculous change in performance, it's not going to happen. And it's not going to stop the decel popping. Nothing against all the wrenches who suggest that you do it and they give damn good instructions for all the mods they have posted on. They are the best. But they also love working on these bikes.
Unless you are ready to chase the horsepower fetish with adding new pipes, air intake, a fuel management system, finding a map that's right for you and hitting a Dyno.
Don't start.
If that's the route you want to take and you like wrenching on the bike, get ready to unload about $1,500 for parts and the dyno. Enjoy what you love. I personally would have been just as happy had I left the X stock. I'm wierd, sue me.

Just my opinion. And to keep it honest I haven't installed the fuel management or added an air intake, or had the bike dynoed yet, so half of my post is not based on personal experience. But, I have paid for it all except the dyno.

OK, flame me. 8)

I agree, I thought it would take care of the decel popping when I first decided to do it, but did not. It also did not affect horsepower as far as I can tell, but it did get a small bit of stuff out of the way whenever I do the valves. I just like having unnecessary stuff off of the bike. As far as the decel popping, I was able to use one of bareass's maps for my bike and set up, to eliminate the decel popping.

It does indeed do all that. I forgot about all the room. Which reminds me I think I may be getting close for a valve adjustment.

Thanks

Bluestreak and I did our valves at the same time, he has a 02 and I have a 05 C Model and he really has a lot more room that I do when doing the valves. I really thought it would be the other way around.
