I checked a couple of times on the ride and despite the hill climbing and low gear riding I was getting anywhere from 43 to 46 MPG.
:pot:

It won't change much. Only time I've ever known of a huge decrease in fuel is when the bike is a trike or towing a trailer. When I went on my long moto trip I still got like 43-46 mpg and that was two up and loaded with luggage.

Is that all the gas mileage y'all got? Damn I thought my 1800 was bad but it averaged out a little over 205 MPG when I got home, Now my truck is a little different story and I'm not saying how many gas stations it wouldn't pass, but the bike did good! :c :c

It used a gallon on the trailer?

Now that we have the summer blend of gas I am getting 4 miles per gallon more than winter blend

You need to change out your winter air for the summer air in your tires as well, that will add a couple of MPG.

That's harsh, I always change air in the spring, makes transnition to summer air easier. Tires last longer, better grip. :stickpoke: :bikerider:

I change the oil to summer oil too.

I get far more fun miles out of my ride
Miles per gallon, fun per gallon, I prefer fun miles per gallon.

After following this thread , I'm wondering what kind of weeds were in Bandera this year. I really should have tried harder to get there.

of course, basic maintenance.

Contrary to what we would expect in higher elevations, I've gotten better mileage out in the Hill Country and in the Colorado mountains.
-
I do seem to get better mileage in the hill country. I was wondering if maybe the gas had less ethanol but one of the pumps I was using up there had the 10% sticker on it. But when I saw 46 I was like, heck yeah! Normally I get 38-40 around here but that is normally 2-up so may affect a bit.

Managed to log 1,065 fun miles on our BBT adventure

Gumbo -- have you noticed when somebody turns 50, in some cases, how cocky and disrespectful of their elders they become? Is it because they made 50 that they feel invincible and bulletproof or is it just the Black jacket Harley rider syndrome? :hmm:
:c :c :c

Best I got was going down. 52 mpg.
Was hitting a head wind going home and decreased mpg down to 46.
Last year in Oct traveling to NM I got right at 53mpg doing 75 +mph.

I always got better MPG in N.M. for some reason. No ethanol I believe :cuss:

52 is pretty amazing for an FB6. Aren't those usually around 35?

With my 1800 I noticed that my mileage went downhill fast once I passed 3000 RPM. I have gotten mid fifties many times on road trips when I kept it at 60-65, the roads were flat, and I wasn't fighting wind.

i get 3 mpg less than i used to get w the two wheel goldwing down to 33.7 from 36.4

When I had and Ultra Classic I would get mid 40's mpg but riding with my VTX buddies I would get mid to high 30's. I guess the difference is riding 105 mph trying to catch up to the VTX 135 mph at times will use a lot of gas.
