Who knows the history of the Texas X Riders?
« on: September 18, 2006, 06:17:30 AM »

I found this site in the fall of 03 shortly after buying my bike. I'm pretty sure Tapper is the Daddy of the board but I thought it would be interesting to know what triggered the start of the group and who the original members were. Was there a Texas X Riders board before there was an HDL?

I'm pretty sure BDC, Bigbird and BigPro were some of the original members.

I just thought it would be interesting to know how it all got started for the sake of preserving it....even the dirty laundry.  :o ;D ;D

Any input? Maybe an official birth date that we could celebrate.  O0

I'm not sure of when exactly the site was started, but the originator was WeedEater (Keith Blevins).  He slowly let Tapper take over the site at which point Tapper started to revamp it.  I saw Weedeater at the first ROT rally and that was when I found the site.  I saw him roll by me so I chased him down. O0  He already had TexasXRiders cards made up and was one of the few who owned an '02 Uranium Green.

Dunno what he's doing now.  Life started getting busy for him and I haven't seen him in quite a while.  Really nice guy.

Well Thor, now is the time to spill the beans. I pmed Tapper and ask for his input.
Anything that you can remember as to how the idea got started to form a group, how many were involved before the board was started. Just anything. Hopefully we will hear from Weedeater too.
I am interesed in gathering as much info as I can and maybe one day compile it in one single post. If it turns out ok may ask to have it posted as a sticky.

Hey Dusty,
I know that weedeater got the site up and running. We(German Pete, OB-Ken O'brien and very few others) used to hang out at Strokers and cruz around giving the Harley guy's hell. Big Al-txvtx came up with some killer performance mods for the VTX. He was one of the original owners that had fouling problems with his bike and discovered the timing issue with some of the earlier models(all at his own expense!) I've never really been one to hang out with groups and do the big group rides. Just prefer to ride on my own. I've seen this VTX community grow and think it's pretty cool to see so many VTX's out on the road. Tapper deserves a lot of credit for keeping this site together and all the work he does for the VTX community. I still keep tabs on everything around here so y'all be good!!!!!  O0
