Since BBT did not happen been thinking about a rally in Big Bend country. I've actually been thinking about this for a long time. I am thinking mid October. That will be after school starts and before the chili cookoff in Terlingua. The boarder crossing should be open all week by then( only open on weekends before that) . It would be a week long commitment. Wondering how many of y'all might be interested? Maybe we could set uo a poll?

Hmmmmmm definite maybe . . . 1st thought we'll probably trailer :couch: out and back, not much scenery to look at. Go ahead and start :stickpoke: :stickpoke: :stickpoke:
Any idea what week?
-
I'm definately trailering. I'm flexable. what week is good for you. I'm thinking mid october. Last of Sept. not bad but still a little warm. Low 90's day but cools nicely at nite.
-
This sounds very appealing. Mid October would be good.

I will be riding pulling a trailer if everything falls into place for us to go
:bikerider: ;D
-
I will be towing the "Land Yacht" and most likely staying at Lajitas because they can accommodate my rig easily.

will you be hoteling it? Probably staying in the terlingua/ study butte area?

Would depend on others on where they stay but it that area has good accommodations.

Wayne and I didn't feel up to riding all the way there, but if everyone is trailering then we are interested also. My vote would be after October 15th

I like the way this is going. The RV park in lajitas is nice but other than the resort, don't know of anything else there. The resort is $$$$. I was thinking somewhere in the Terlingua/Study Butte area. There is a coupla places to eat there and a gas station and fair size grocery store. There are some RV parks and other lodging although I don't know the quality. Several unique B&B's in the area. I have a friend that goes there twice a year. I'll talk to him. Plus the TWT forum has a lot of folks that go there a lot. One lives there.
-
Yeah. Ideally I'd like to stay in Terlingua but I like my space and the two RV parks are just too cramped for my rig. It's only a 15 minute ride away anyways. I'll keep looking

How about renting something on AirBnB...like this whole house?

We could cook some meals in house (you know me, I like to cook).
Maybe there are hookups for Paul's RV.

something to think about!

Good ideas , keep 'em coming.

advice from TWT forum. Alot of these guys are ADV riders and go there a lot.
Just stay away from the last week of October, the Chili Cookoff`s are the first weekend in November and the week before can get crazy.. It draws at least 20k people and everything gets stupid crowded. Also they ship DPS in from all over the state to help out the Brewster co sheriff..
As far places to stay we usually use BB resort in Study Butte it has a motel, camping and RV sites all in one. Not to mention fuel. Also the Chili Pepper across the street is the place for breakfast..

Considering!

I called Big Bend Resort and they are booked solid thru Oct 24th. They have several openings from October 25th-Nov 1st.
They have Queen bed rooms for $129/night - 2 occupants.
They also have apartments. Two bedrooms, queen bed in each and a kitchen for $210/night - 4 occupants. There are 3 apartments

here's some more info from the TWT forum: I stayed at the Study Butte RV Park. It had everything there including, washer/dryer, bathrooms/showers, and a nice Park community center For everyone to enjoy. Plus the grocery store was right across the street and it’s the closest RV Park to the big bend entrance. Also, it was a haven for motorcycle riders as everyone that was there had some kind of motorcycle. It was awesome! *sigh* now I wanna go back!

Still here in Houston. Don't ride nearly as much a s I use to. The VTX is in storage with water in the gas issue. Never tried to fix it so it just sits. I do ride some of my others but not often.
-
you need to change that. :goldwing: zoom zoom

Day Pass?
sure, special exception just for you.
I might actually be out there during that time. I have a western swing of the spots in the GT2020 planned, about 2300 miles, and it hits BB. just don't have the dates set yet.
-
Day Pass?
We have only One day pass left that will get you into all the events and venues. You better snatch it up before it's gone. It only cost $500.00

Nah, you just had a boner for me asking about day passes...
-
Do y'all want to set a tentative date?
-
How long of a stay are we talking? A week, weekend? I like the idea of sometime between Oct 18th and Nov 1st.
-
to far for a weekend, I'm planning a week. The chili cookoff in Terlingua is Nov. 4-7 . The crowd will show about a week before. So I think the week of Oct. 18th at the latest.
