Austin Area Rides
« on: May 23, 2007, 02:13:41 PM »

Anybody have any scenic ride ideas for the Austin area, that they want to share. I'll be in the area in a couple of weeks and was looking for some rides. Thanks.

Thanks guys. I'll be there for ROT, but not really interested in riding "in the city". A buddy and I are going to split a room, so I couldn't resist a cheap trip to ride Austin area.

Another nice ride is to take 290 west past the "Y", then south on 1826, then north on 150, south on 12 into Wimberley.  Get a bite at INO'Z (pronounced Eye-Nose).
Then you can continue down 12 to Purgatory road, then west along 306 around Canyon lake.
After the lake go north on 484 and then north on FM 32, then north into Blanco on 281.
Lots of places to stop there in Blanco for a drink.
You can finish up by going north on 281 back to 290, go east into Austin.
A nice ride, lots of hills and turns.
Lots of other shops, restaurants, bars, etc along the way.
Have Fun!

New member here.  i just took your advice and went on that ride.  535 was great.  I'm up north and didn't feel like taking IH-35 to 71 so I decided to cut through 969 and 973(?) by manor to hit 71.  Those are some fun roads too.
